In Mexico, the traditional culture ``Day of the Dead'' (Spanish: Dia de Muertos, Spanish: Día) is held on November 1st and 2nd every year, with the purpose of remembering and thanking the dead and sharing the joy of life. de Muertos (English: Day of the Dead).
This time, I created a work about the Day of the Dead we spent in San Cristóbal de las Casas, the town where we currently live.
The film begins in the city center and then goes shopping with a friend to create an altar for our son at Mercado, a local indigenous market.
This was our first time making an altar, and we worked hard to make it with advice from a Mexican.
On the Day of the Dead, the souls of children return on the 1st and the souls of adults return on the 2nd.They spent the whole day at the altar on the 1st and went to the graves in the city on the 2nd.
Many families were spending time in their own graveyards/homes, and it was a very beautiful space.
Of course we didn't have our own space, but we did visit the crematorium where we said goodbye to our son.
I hope that through this video, more people can learn about Mexico's wonderful culture and customs.
