@@TheyCallMeTouchpad The grammar is perfect but the pronunciation is bad so I fear he doesn't really speak German, he just got the relevant lines prepared by someone else. Still, this is more effort than most other shows are willing to do. For example, if someone in South Park speaks German, both the grammar and the pronunciation are terrible. Of course this doesn't really matter for the purposes of the joke, since most of the audience doesn't understand the language.

@@TheyCallMeTouchpad It's not criticism. "Fluent" is is just ambiguous. The Grammer is perfect, but the pronunciation shows that he probably doesn't speak the language. If we mean grammar, the lines are indeed fluent. :)

All in all it doesn't make any sense as previously stated due to the fact that the verb would be in the infinitive. Gladly ruining jokes as is German tradition!

Pure comedy genius. I've seen this about two hundred times and it still makes me cry with laughter. The Day Today was the best and most significant UK comedy of the nineties. Vic and Bob were great but they weren't a patch on Chris Morris. As far Newman and Baddiel, they would have made good comedians if they had been funny. Chris Morris was the Peter Cook of his generation, that's all there is to it.
