I played with Dwan in summer 2004 at a vfw in Verona NJ. Was only one time I played there. We first played a tourney which he got knocked out of and I came in 2nd out of like 60 people. It then turned into cash games and he and I were at the same table. Dwan got pretty crazy and ended up winning most from what I remember. After seeing him on tv just a year or so later there’s no doubt in my mind he bluffed me and prob others out of some nice sized pots. I felt I was pretty good then but couldn’t figure him out for the life of me. Don’t remember catching him on any bluffs but do remember calling him down with a flopped set of 7s when he flopped a straight. Was definitely cool seeing him succeed on high stakes just a short time after.

@@paulcox9366 From what I can remember they had played Beal back and forth but he kept pushing the stakes higher and higher. The pros lost a lot of money in one session and wanted to get Beal back in Vegas so they could try to win it back. They had to recruit more players so they could get more bankroll for the game. Phill Ivy was added to the team of players playing against Beal and he ended up putting them back in the green against Beal and then taking quite a bit off of him. After that session, he refused to play against Phill anymore. I think it was either him or Erick Sidel who won the most money for the group in the end. This is all just from memory so I could be wrong but that's what I remember.

No their not thats ridiculous to say and theres plenty of players that prove otherwise. The lower the amount of entries the easier they are to live off i play nl200 to nl400 for a living but i used to play tournies for a living and i made alot more yearly than i fo now they are judt too stressful for me because your month tends to come down to 1 run where you get to a big final table in cash games i may have 1 losing day a week in tournaments i may have 1 winning day a week but the amount of the win would outweigh the losses but as i say very very stressful. Tournaments are atually maths wise easier to make money at long term becsuse you don't pay rake per hand so you can push spots you cant push in cash making cash a much tighter game for your vslue range. Obviously due to the amount of bbs also.

Indeed. And that luck in online poker, we all know well how those games are rigged to just push a few players towards a spot in a real tournament. Have seen them playing as teams in game/internet centers where they go in-out tables until they are with 6 at the same table. They all can see each other's cards (sitting in circles) and decide which one to let win. That goes on until that one has a free spot in a real tournament. Then the team goes to the real tournament with their player and the rest as supporters, and shares the winnings. Sometimes one get lucky in those real tournaments and gets to the semi-finals table or the final table. If get in top three a so called new great poker player is born.
