The Dayton Police Department is proud to welcome 16 new officers. The members of the 110th Dayton Police Recruit Class were sworn in and graduated on Friday, April 9, 2021, at 10:00 am in the City Commission Chambers at City Hall (101 W. Third St., second floor). The Honorable E. Gerald Parker, Jr., Montgomery County Common Pleas Court Judge, provided the keynote address.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the rules prohibiting large indoor gatherings, the 110th recruit class graduation ceremony was not open to the public. Only those necessary for the ceremony attended in order to adhere to social distancing guidelines.
The members of the 110th Recruit Class completed more than six months of rigorous training and classroom work at the Dayton Police Academy. Upon graduation, the new officers will be assigned to a Patrol Training Officer for 16 weeks before beginning patrol duties on their own.
