This album was all recorded in our home studio, with help from Nick on drums, Phil on organ, and myself singing. Casey recorded it all and this being the first album, led to all the rest. I love my wonderful family!!

Wait, is this Mrs Crescenzo??? Nice to meet you! I am so totally blown away by this. I suspect Casey is a super human walking among us. lol The amount of talent required to write these songs and tell this story is off the charts. It’s thoroughly entertaining. It should absolutely be a Netflix series. I can see the scenes in my head as I listen along. We are currently on Act II and I am so in for this journey. You must be very proud of your family! Thanks for commenting!!! Btw- Inquiry of Ms Terri is one of my favorites so far. That song is so emotional and powerful. Beautiful singing ✌️

Hello! I am completely absorbed in both the music and lyrics separately while slowly combining the layers of understanding. What a gift you all have! My current research took me to phrases I found in literature and historical findings. Is Casey a literature lover??? His lyrics have led me down some interesting paths! Hope my full reaction does this masterpiece justice ❤

Wow how cool. Would love to hear from Casey's mom about some backstory or at least her story about how the family got together and agree to make the Act.

The lead vocalist holds that final "gone" in "some day she'll be gone" for properly close to 30 seconds during live performances. To the point where some of us fans start to get a little worried about him. It's a really memorable part of hearing that particular song live. I would definitely recommend finding a solid summary, if you'd like to understand what's going on in the story here, though. There's an extremely solid analysis that someone has done over on Heavy Blog Is Heavy for that purpose, actually. It's called "prognotes." Just type that and "Act I" and you'll probably find it. I would link it myself, but KZitem likes to eat my comments when I include links. Anyway, I'm excited to hear you guys go through more of the discography, whether you dig deep on the narrative or not!

You were right about the brother and father. His mother also did backing vocals. They raised Casey and Nick right! Also absolutely follow all the songs with lyrics. Really helps digest. Act II starts immediately where Act I left off. Can’t wait for you guys to see how it opens up the world

Act II is very special to a lot of us. When it first released it was like they were untouchable, like they just unleashed something so magical and emotional. The Lake and the River is probably one of my all time favorite songs by them and I can't wait for both of you to hear it.

I think having a little discussion stream at the end of an album sounds super fun. Sadly I probably won't be able to join this sunday, so I'm gonna leave some thoughts here: I think either having lyrics up or not are both valid options. Tbh the first time I found TDH I didn't pay much attention to lyrics since I was kinda young and English isn't my first language, plus the events of the Acts aren't very easily decipherable from lyrics alone. Casey definitely didn't write this as a purely musical thing. I think I've heard him mention that he has a complete screenplay for the whole thing lying around. Anyway, despite that, I still turned into a lifelong fan. And it's fun to try and feel it out by emotions purely. Also extremely satisfying to read the lyrics and watch the puzzle pieces falling into place. So whatever you want! I don't think you necessarily missed a lot either. Act I is kinda weird in that it's basically all setup for the world and the events that are to come. Some things do 'happen' but most of it is characterization of the world. Something that *would* be very interesting for you to look into or ask people about would be the Pimp & the Priest. I won't go into detail now but knowing what that song is specifically about is gonna help you with some stuff in the future, I think. Also you guys were spot on with the little soundscape at the end. The way I see it, it's definitely the end of an intermission and the crowd is filling the theatre while the orchestra is tuning and getting ready for Act II to begin. Hope you guys get the chance to dive into that one soon! Have fun! Oh, a final note: keep a look out for recurring musical/lyrical motifs. Sometimes they're subtle, but they mean a lot.

YakTamer! Thanks for taking the time to write this comment. We really appreciate your thoughts and guidance here. I find myself going back to 3 songs on this album a lot since we reacted to it - The inquiry of Ms Terri, The Pimp and the Priest, and His Hands Matched His Mouth. I think the full album is brilliant but those songs just really stand out to me. I’m doing a little research into Act I now, and am looking to get an understanding of what we just heard hopefully without spoiling the whole story. I think Sue is planning to go off her interpretation. Hopefully it all leads to some interesting conversation. We’re targeting Sunday to live stream about Act I, but not sure yet if that will work, or at what time. Whenever we do it, it will be posted on our channel. We’re psyched to dive into Act II. That should be posted next Friday!
