In this video I respond to Part 1 of The Teaching Home’s email series on “building your home school.” Part 1 is called “Foundation: Your Decision to Homeschool,” and it covers determining God’s will for your family, being aware of the advantages offered by homeschooling, whether or not you’re qualified to teach your children, the legality of homeschooling, and more!
Once upon a time, I could have written this email. I was a true homeschooling believer. But now… I’m not. So I took the opportunity to revisit these old arguments and see how they hold up. Spoiler: Not well!
If you’re not familiar with The Teaching Home, it was founded in 1980 and ran as a print magazine until 2002. My mom was a subscriber when I was growing up. Now it seems to be a website / free email newsletter, still dedicated to promoting (Christian) homeschooling.
