This series- especially the first 2 seasons-- hit more homeruns than all others with the exception of perhaps The Fugitive. There's not a dog in the bunch. Arch Johnson, who excelled at playing really sh*tty guys, does an even better than usual job here.

I like the relationships between the opposing lawyers and how they are presented. Fighters in the courtroom and friends outside - to an extent.
@Grisostomo06
2 жыл бұрын
The creators of this show try to make that clear in almost every episode. In the courtroom it's strictly adversarial. If a guilty man gets off it's not the fault of the defense it's the fault of the prosecution for not being able to convince the jury of the defendant's guilt.

This is a minor set detail, but did anyone notice that the DA and his wife shared a double bed? Married couples were always shown sleeping in twin beds in the 60s, to the point where I grew up thinking my parents were weird. The first time I saw a couple share a bed was in The New Dick Van Dyke Show in 1971.
@vickyabramowitz2885

I was thinking the same thing. But I reasoned that the network might have gotten away with the double bed by having the man and woman talk to each other during the scene until the woman fell asleep.

Written by Reginald Rose ("12 Angry Men"). Directed by David Greene ("Fatal Vision", "Roots", "Rich Man, Poor Man".) I think Robert Reed was nominated for Emmy's in both "Roots" and "Rich Man, Poor Man". Joe De Santis is forceful and sympathetic as the DA. Arch Johnson ("Other People's Money") gives one of his best performances as the defendant. Also good to see Renee Taylor and Arlene Golonka. E.G. Marshall plays a man who kills Gene Hackman in Clint Eastwood's "Absolute Power" many years later.
