hi! i usually never comment on youtube videos but i just want to say thank you for this reading order! i just finished it and i’m so glad i read all the books in the way you recommended it! all i can say now is that i’m absolutely terrified for the ahsoka show and hope they can do thrawn justice and don’t mischaracterize him 😭

Thank you for commenting! I’m incredibly happy that you found my reading order effective, and were able to get the same level of enjoyment out of this phenomenal series. I agree with you wholeheartedly on the topic of the Ahsoka show. After (in my opinion at least) doing her character a complete disservice in Mando and BOBF the odds aren’t looking great for Thrawn, but I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see!

Finally a precise description of the order in which to enjoy that wonderful blue Chiss. 😏💙 In English I don't know slang to better describe "cool Chiss" ... but in Italian it would be "fregno". 🤣 What a beautiful Italian language huh? 👀👌🏻 I'm ironic, all languages are beautiful. 🌷 Thanks for the video! ☺️

Thanks for this suggestion! I finally started reading the new cannon books and watching rebels using this video as a guide and i'm enjoying it so far! I do wanna know if you have any suggested chapters for Treason to correlate with specific episodes or parts of the last season of Rebels?

Apologies for the extremely late response - you've most likely already finished the book and series by the time I'm writing this. Tbh I can't think of any chapters that correlate with specific parts of Rebels aside from the beginning and epilogue of Treason. Something I've always found strange about Treason is how it never directly acknowledges Governor Pryce destroying the TIE Defender factory on Lothal. The entire plot of the book hinges on funding being diverted either to Thrawn's project or Director Krennic's project Stardust - the destruction of the Defender factory would most likely halt the entire operation, but as far as I recall it's never really brought up. I could be wrong though, you've undoubtedly read it more recently than me, so if I missed something feel free to correct me.

I think it’s also good to point out that the animated thrawn and book thrawn are written by different people animated mostly Dave filoni and book thrawn by Timothy Zahn so the character doesn’t really line up across the books and shows even if the events do. In the shows he’s more of a pure villain in the books he’s a lot more nuanced, the Chiss Ascendancy doesn’t even get mentioned In the show and I domt think it’s canon in Star Wars lore as of yet

I originally found Thrawn's portrayal in Rebels to be inconsistent with his book counterpart, but I think Zahn did a pretty good job working around what Filoni did with the character and gave justifiable reasons for why Thrawn took certain extreme actions in the series. Although Thrawn's recent appearance in Ahsoka has created many continuity errors between the series' and the novels, to a point where I have difficulty viewing them as the same character anymore. Still, your point stands - both interpretations are vastly different. I like the book version more, but obviously that's just personal preference.

That’s actually the order I read them in the 1st time around, so yeah! I don’t think you should have any problems following the story that way.

2 month late reply here, so this may not apply to you anymore. But in case it does... The original Thrawn trilogy was written before the Star Wars prequels came out in theatres. Because of this there is a lot in the book that doesn't correlate well with what we all know as modern Star Wars. For example, in the original movie, Ben Kenobi had a line referencing The Clone Wars. But because that hadn't been expanded on until a while later, Timothy Zahn wrote his own idea of what The Clone Wars was. In this case, The Clone Wars weren't mainly consisting of clone troopers like you know, but instead clone Jedi. One of the key characters in this trilogy is a clone Jedi, in fact. So keep that in mind as you read it, in case you haven't already.

@@kylekingsland5564 Excellent comment! I'd assumed that the original commentor's question was regarding the two trilogies discussed in the video without considering the possibility that it was in reference to Heir to the Empire. I'm sure your reply will be very helpful for anyone else confused by the subject.

Would the first book be the same as heir to the empire?
@hobbricks_lego_man

I'm assuming the first book you're referring to is Thrawn, the first one I list in the video. In which case, no - Heir to the Empire is a completely separate story which is no longer canon at this point. My video concerns strictly the canon Thrawn novels, but if you're looking for an order for the legends novels the order goes as follows: Heir to the Empire - Dark Force Rising - The Last Command - The Hand of Thrawn: Spectre of the Past - The Hand of Thrawn: Vision of the Future, with the books Outbound Flight and Survivors Quest having a small amount to do with Thrawn's story, but still being worth a read from what I've heard (I've currently only gotten through the Heir to the Empire trilogy and half of Spectre of the Past so I don't know all of the story). Hope that helps somewhat!

Can i watch the rebels show at the same time of watching thrawn 2017?
@hobbricks_lego_man
Жыл бұрын
I don't think there should be any real problem with that, the first Thrawn book helps give some much needed context to his character in Rebels. I would just recommend holding off on watching the series finale of Rebels until you've read Thrawn: Treason. Aside from that, you should be good to go!

Yeah, I've been reading the Legends trilogy recently, and characters like: Mara Jade, Talon Karrde, Jorus C'boath, and several others have not yet appeared in the newer canon books. I wouldn't be surprised if they appeared at some point in the live action TV shows though, there's a rumour that Christopher Lloyd might be playing C'boath in The Mandalorian if I'm not mistaken

@@euroclips4101 Ah I see, I was just confused because my video only covers the canon books. The legends trilogy takes place 5 years after the events of Return of the Jedi, and I believe the Hand of Thrawn duology takes place some time after that. If you're interested, Survivor's Quest and Outbound Flight also heavily feature Thrawn. I hope that helps!
