I don't think most Germans care much because it doesn't affect their daily lives. I'm from East Germany and it's pretty much irrelevant for me. You still have all the public cultural spaces and the country is multi-cultural when it comes to the people living here, which is a pretty bad form of immigration, but you effectively won't see them if you avoid the slums. Apparently my city has a lot of immigrants but I barely see them and they don't seem to cause any trouble. I don't have a strong opinion about it though, the alternative would be no immigration, and therefore the laws would be much more strict - after all, someone has to do the crappy work, and if cheap immigrants (they usually suffer from poverty and are forced to work under bad conditions and for low paychecks) aren't there to do it, the next best German guy has to. Therefore right-wing and conservative parties push the nationalist narrative: love your homeland, work for your homeland, mate for your homeland.

As a young German in my twenties, I've become acutely aware of the issue of the gradual replacement of our ethnic population since the refugee crisis in 2015. Especially since 2015, the consequences have become very evident: robberies, group rapes, stabbings, and terrorist attacks have become prevalent. The high costs of supporting these individuals burden the federal budget significantly, leading to discussions of new tax increases despite a healthy stream of tax revenues. For instance, approximately half of the recipients of welfare benefits (comprehensive social support for long-term unemployment) don't even hold German citizenship. Now, the SPD and the Greens aim to lower the barriers for obtaining German citizenship, likely to quickly acquire new voters and prevent the deportation of these individuals. This year, the lease for the Berlin deportation terminal at the airport was not renewed without explanation. Furthermore, our government, which systematically undermined Frontex's authority in recent years, is now criticizing G. Meloni for her border control measures. The societal discourse has become harsher, and the sense of belonging as a nation is dwindling. There's little one can do because those who oppose this situation through the media are labeled as conspiracy theorists or extremists, risking their employment and social status. Hence, most people remain silent and succumb to this fate. I truly don't know how things will proceed here; it seems more likely to get worse than better. Kind regards from Dresden

The sad thing is that many important political parties, espacially the "Grüne" (Greens) party, are enforcing the idea that modern Germans are still responsible for the acts of the National Socialists. Meaning that they have to accept other people and other ideologies becomming a part of Germany and their lives no matter the consequenses in order to assure that Germans adapt to outsiders and their behaviour. Some politicians have spoken out against Germans directly, making jokes on genocides against Germans like the bombings during the second world war or even stating that Germans don't deserve to have their own nation. Even patriotism is seen as extremist. You will find many flags of different nations or communities raised all over the cities, most notably goverment institutions, but the German flag you'll find rarely. Even on important national holidays like the unification day the German flag can very rarely be spotted. If you fly the German flag on your property many will be weirded out or see you as a nazi. And again, this is strongly supported by the politics with some important political figures saying things like "Love of homeland, I've always found disgusting" - Robert Habeck (Vice Chancellor & Economy minister). Other less know politicans haven spoken out things like "Why heaters when you can warm yourself with burning German flags?", "The people have to say goodbye to the illusion that Germany belongs to Germans." or even "I wish Germany would've been completely bombed out in the 2. WW. This country doesn't have a right to exists." All of this has caused the opposite of what then initially intended to achieve. Instead of the people comming closer, they've been divided even more. Espacially the youth is done for since many schools, most often in the West, have barely any German students and the last few Germans that are in these school are often bullied for being German.

@@POCKET-SANDthe US also is importing tons of people. The Germans aren’t a country. They’re a protectorate of the US. The US and our hairbrained immigration policies spread to Canada, Australia, England and New Zealand first. Then they spread to Europe (because of the language barrier europe used to get our schemes last). We did the same thing when we exported the housing bubble to Europe, when we exported non-binary to Europe and when we exported body positivity to Europe. The US always thinks up a hairbrained idea, then the Anglo sphere immediately copies our ideas, then it gets exported to Europe where they make it law. So they US will invent something like “making fat people pay for 2 airplane seats should be illegal”. This stupid idea will spread to Australia, England and Canada by Twitter. Then Europe will look at this stupid idea and make it the law. Just like hate speech laws in 2016. They perceive America as a backwards, right-wing redneck nation so they strives to be as progressive as they can. In literally every category you mentioned, Europe is way more progressive than the US ever was. And please, point to me where we have hate speech laws in the US.

You've done a great analysis of the demographic structure of Germany, Kaiserbauch! I myself am a mixture of German-Prussian and Czech ancestors. The long-term consequences of this development (35:45) cannot yet be imagined. Unfortunately, we cannot have an open debate about these trends in Germany because we are subject to enormous self-censorship. I often had to gather many of the developments regarding our demographic and economic future from foreign authors, as it is a highly politicized topic even in our university sphere. The internal tensions in Germany (West-East) are also increasing, as two completely different population structures will of course soon clash here. Furthermore, we see a caste of politicians who are moving further and further away from pragmatic politics and instead pursuing ideologized delusions. If we experience a longterm economic downturn, we will most likely also see a trickle-down effect of poverty and social disintegration. Thank you for your great analysis!

Du hier? :D I also think this observation is very correct. The rift between East and West Germany is generally very much underestimated. If current developments continue as they are, East and West Germany will have completely different ethnic structures and political interests in a few generations. Compared to what the next few decades could bring in this respect, "Bavarian separatism" could be a mere meme.

The reason France stop being the number one country in Europe in term of demographics is because of the French Revolution and all the bloodshed that happened during this period (Red Terror, White terror, Great Terror, Civil War ect...) Then the Napoleonic Wars witch basically send half of the French youth into hell. The defeat of Napoleon I is basically the start of the decline of France from being the most powerfull country in Europe. In fact French never had demographic transition because of that period followed by La commune and then the 2 WWs were basically the last nails in the cofin. France had similar population to Russia before that. Today Russia has more than the double.

@@zombie92110 I agree with you, however notice that in the manner in which people lived their lives until the 1960s in France, and until the 1990s in Russia, where people went to villages and they made always more than 2.1 children on average, it makes sense that european Russia could increase its population easier, because it had more space to build villages and cities than France did. Of course, I am not saying that this is the only factor why Russia today has a much bigger population than France, but I believe that it is the most important one. And Russia lost far more people in both the October Revolution and WW2 than France did, and still has more than double of France's population. I believe that It is better to compare France with Germany and the UK for example. Both Germany and the UK are smaller than France, and yet France has smaller population than them. I am not an expert on this subject. And it seems remarkable to me that the UK has the same population with France, although being almost half its size. But remember that many Germans today are descendants of Germans living in Germany before 1945 (1919), which was also much bigger in size than France. So this is also a reason why Germany today has more german people in it, than France has french people.

Making society hate the good ones and be against all types of immigration and just overall dividing the people, if only France took in qualified workers who maybe studied there and aren’t as religious and it’d be even better if they had a job and friends or family, with a good mastery of French and especially if they didn’t have double nationality.

It seems to me that sometimes you stretch the facts a bit to support a certain thesis. Prussia of the 16th-18th centuries was not only militaristic, but also had quite sophisticated material culture. Maybe not as much as the German countries west of the Elbe, but it was quite a decent level radiating to its neighbors. I am writing this from the Polish point of view and this is rather clear for contemporary Polish economic historians. The degree of urbanization, architectural culture, level of agricultural development and its productivity, standard of living of peasants, etc., all this in Prussia was quite decent for the conditions in our part of Europe. We know this from sources. It was a level perhaps comparable to, for example, Denmark, or, looking in a different direction, Silesia. It was not one of those countries where the standard of functioning in everyday life of the average person was hopelessly miserable, but the military ambitions of the elites were beyond measure, like, for example, Russia. As for the alleged uniqueness of Prussia's militarism, I'm sorry, but what was Sweden's approach to the topic of expansion only a little earlier? After all, they were the same militarists. When the Swedish army marched, it left only ruins behind. These were the pioneers of total war. And who were the British, "towards whom the peaceful Rhine Germans were facing?" They conquered half of the world with their army. They were extremely expansive. After all, it is the same type of militarism and mentality of conquest as Prussia. They were no exceptions here. Another thing. If the militarized Prussia that united Germany was primitive and less developed than the peaceful, cultural german lands west of the Elbe, one could expect a quick domination of the Rhineland cultural area and a certain dampening of the Prussian drive for all kinds of wars. Or maybe this is what really happened and it is not true that the Prussian military element was so important in the later clash of powers, especially since after unification the economic role of the eastern provinces of the Reich was weakening (except for the rapidly developing Berlin agglomeration), but it was simply general German thinking, and the rivalry of empires, one of which was Germany, was the natural course of events, and if it were not for Prussia, the vacuum would be filled by someone else? Another thing, are you sure that what you see on the map you are presenting is the influence of Protestantism on support for the Nazis? If you start to delve deeper into the issue of the relationship between religions and far-right regimes in Europe, in Germany itself it was quite ambiguous (you can also see it on this map, after all, not only the East was Protestant in Germany) and not decisive, and in others In fascist countries, the Catholic clergy had nothing against cooperating with the regimes. Or maybe what you see on these maps is not religion, but something that could be called the "bulwark effect". At the intersection of cultures, religions and ethnic groups, sometimes those who are considered peripheral by the inhabitants of the core consider themselves to be the purest and noblest representatives of the society, nation or culture they represent. The bulwark (e.g. the bulwark of Christendom - Antemurale Christianitatis) has quite a long tradition in our part of Europe. It is not strange that the Germans living there were influenced more by slogans about the greatness of the nation, the purity of the German race, etc., than, for example, the bourgeoisie from Cologne, etc. By the way, a funny fact is that in Poland in the interwar period, in the areas of the former Prussian partition, i.e. right next to the border of the eastern provinces of Germany, Polish nationalist parties enjoyed the greatest political support, and not necessarily because they were anti-German (it was obvious, but this was not the main reason), but rather because they were an extension of the old relations prevailing in the eastern provinces of the Reich before the First World War, i.e. the popularity of landowner, and petty bourgeoisie conservatism, analogous to the old, Prussian, etc., and besides, they were also viewed there with some distrust towards... the east of the country, which was much poorer, but larger and had a greater influence on everything that was happening in the country. And one more thing. Is patrilineal primogeniture really a very German feature? After all, it was quite a common thing in Europe and elsewhere. Even if it is so impeding development, how on earth did they develop so many different plants, technologies, implement so many patents, win a lot of Nobel Prizes, etc. at a time when society was becoming more traditional and only now, at the stage we are at ( and we are, after all, urban societies in Europe, already quite detached from the roots of traditional ethos), would this supposed feature prove to be a disaster for the Germans?

You are pretty intelligent, I respect that. May God grant you success and help you see the truth. I think you misinterpreted my comment in some way. I am not saying, that migration and demographic change are one and the same problem. Germany is in decline, has been for quite some time. We currently live from what has been accumulated for decades. Ideology driven politics squander the tax income seemingly mindlessly, no healthy investments. Just for consumption purposes or pumping up companies with subsidies that either fail or leave the country when the money flow stops (H2, Intel e.g.). Doing business with Russia had been a reliable thing to do until the US „helped us to decide we want to stop“. Real statesmen would have pushed the investigation on the NordStream attacks. This doesn’t mean that shutting down all nuclear power plants because some tsunami on a tectonically active part of the world caused a flood that affected one wasn’t probably the most stupid decision in that century. Only the decision opening the borders for every migrant to come here, rivals that. Germany always has been an immigration country. That’s not a bad thing! But mixing people with completely different views on things, value systems etc. (the video referred to that as snitching on your cousin or so), can become dangerous. This is why the number of crimes is unproportionally higher in those communities. Immigrants from Eastern Europe are also not as problematic. And yes, everybody has “heard about” the demographic problem. But the magnitude of this, and how devastating it could get for a country’s stability isn’t understood by most. Politics has shied away from tackling the problem ever since, proclaiming migration is the answer when it’s really not (at least done like it currently is).

For what it is worth and from my research over the last 12 years with around 1,200 students, I have given them the task of writing an essay "where do I see myself in 10-15 years." Students were told to think about the home-life as well as work-life. When reading the essays, I looked for the freqency of most used words when describing their vision of the future. The number one word used has been the same every year. The word is "garden" as in house with a garden. With the garden, comes vision of children. France's public opinion is strongly for decreasing immigration and expelling the criminals, but so far the choice has been between the Le Pen and establishment center folks. The establishment folk will sometime talk big about security and all, but they are very pro EU. Currently the social systems are financing ethnic minorities, who did not equally contribute into the system by giving them health Insurance & social benefits. It will be interesting to see if these social structures like pensions , unemployment benefits, free education, free healthcare etc. will still work on the long term in a multi ethnical society or if europe will become more american from that perspective. And the birth rate remained to the end higher than west. It shows that with some will of the goverment it can increase it if it really wants to. France, Germany, Italy and Spain). *There were pockets of Brits in different parts of the world who would do crazy things not in keeping with the normal e.g.: the opium Wars, when Lord Palmerston led faction of the government brought China to its knees , but then Gladstone reversed it as soon as he got in power because he was disgusted with how power had been hijacked temporarily - this could not happen for any long period of time involving the commitment Of large Numbers in Britain anywhere, because as the OP says the general mindset of the Brits was Grounded, impersonal and Practical…to take an opportunity to its zenith point through free-market capitalist techniques, they were not interested in changing culture or annihilating races, for any "IDEALISTIC" reason, like the Germans, or the, French and Spanish empire's, it was purely about making money, avoiding risk and having an efficient system in which to reinvest it and distribute it, e.g.: stopping the American colonists from stealing native land and murdering westwards and ending the slave trade by fighting against it internationally for a century. *This is also why they left the best systems of government and business in the colonies around the world who are the richest colonies now above all the other colonies of other Former Imperialist nations I mentioned. e.g.: India, Egypt, Nigeria, South Africa,, Singapore, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea were the richest developing countries, and many are now highly wealthy developed countries because of British structures still in place and infrastructure left.

Virtually EVERY nation has Suffered colonialism at some point, even the Britishb, by the Normans and the Romans. In terms of my Suffering from those occupations, it's the same as YOUR suffering from your ancestors being colonised by the Brits ancestors. *Ultimately , I'm making a comment related to this video, I'm saying that, unlike the Germans, "Historically" they didn't get trapped in Idealistic, unchangeable, Nihilistic "all or nothing" railroaded endeavours… Like the video indicates, they were the 1st "individualistic" nation with free structures which were the 1st "individualistic" nation having developed relatively free structures,, leading to citizens having different opinions from authority and Again, leading to Enlightenment thinking and also "if any antagonist, causes problems." another Brit in power is likely to Pull them out of it, unlike the Germans who continue until total success, or destruction.e.g.:Contrast both world wars with the British opium Wars - Gladstone, when winning power, Immediately set about dismantling the opium trade commitment in UK that Palmerston had established before him.

This is why Germany lost the war. Too much time and resources were devoted to dealing with a minority that represented a mere one half of 1% of the total population. In transcripts of interviews after the war, Germans described Jews as “unclean” or “impure”. The frequent washing of hands is a common symptom of patients suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder. They are always trying to rid themselves of some type of imaginary dirt or contamination. In the same way Nazi ideology turned what should have been a trivial matter into a national obsession. This distraction proved disastrous for the Nazi leadership. Their thinking became clouded. It resulted in a series of flawed or poorly conceived military decisions.

Merkel Forced Western sexual Morals onto us, and this prevents us from breeding as young as we need to. The amount of pregnancies from Women between 15 and 20 has halfed in the last 20 years. What's why I hate the Alt Right (like AfD), as they support that stuff. Poland, HUngria and Italy might seem based at the surface, but their prudishness kills their birthrate. The liberation must come from the left, not from the right, yet put women in their place. As long we have age restrictions for sex and marriage, and allow a woman to make sex (even inside wedlock) illegal by saying no, their is no escape. The is no survival without a new sexual revolution. Fortuanetly Germany has the World's largest Incel Movement, and our youth rebels against the new laws by commiting so many sexual offences, the cops get overloaded.

Wow, I´m impressed. As a German-chinese myself I have absolutely inherited diesen "Drang nach dem Absoluten", I guess that´s why I´m writing now. Czech and Slovaks, east europeans in general, I have realized, have the most accurate view on germany by far. There are many many groups in germany. The older population on average is quiet conservative, some still hold nationalist positions, expressed in the AfD, which is now gaining a massive growth in votes and approval. There are actually a few groups like the Reichsbürger or some conservatives, although they are a small minority, who believe that politics and ideology are being used to replace germans by immigration, it´s called a conspiracy theory. They´re also being watched by the Verfassungschutz, basicly state Police. Germany has become very leftleaning in the last 2 decades, during Angela Merkels time. People just didn´t realize it these 16 years, because it was such a slow process. The political right is being ostracized and morally prohibited. I actually study social sciences at Fulda University of applied sciences with my focus on work and organisation which I chose insted of globalization and sustainable development or immigration and integration. From my observattion, the german spirit is just very easy to influence and extremely susceptible to ideology, the women and girls even more than men and lads. At the center of it all is ideology, which I´m studying for years now, starting with Slavoy Zizek. I´m trying to get to the bottom of it. Cities in germany have become or always were cesspools - of alienation, consumerism, materialism but also more and more of drugs, excess and poverty because of unaffordable rent. Also young adults my age from rural areas tend to leave cities now, with their partners if they found one, but many get stuck in the cities alone, miserable or at least working for only themselves. The ones struggling the most seem to be young men and women born and raised in cities. They lack so many basics that i´m truly losing hope for them, especially Gen Z. 0 Experience but entitled beyond belief, extremely stubborn, unwilling to change or learn while at the same time longing for basic things. Tiktok and and Hip-hop-gangsta or bitch-boss culture are rotting their brains. I rly think Gen Z is kind of doomed. Gen Alpha might have some hope. Germans have another weakness, which is political passivity. The authoritative part makes them just go with whatever is thrown at them, german pride was also broken by the guilt-culture after WW2. Maybe it had to be like this, maybe it´s for the best. This perfectionism or completionism in the german spirit might just be too dangerous if left unchecked, it brought us nuclear among other things like space rockets for satellites. Maybe some things are better left untouched, though we seem to not be able to go back as humanity. I honestly think the Japanese we´re even worse than the germans, more extreme but didn´t ever have the manpower or resources. Lets hope the chinese don´t repeat the mistakes of the germans. Thanks for the video, it really gave me inspiration! Edit: Additon: Germany let their biggest trumpcards for the future go and be sold, Solar energy, to some extent robotics, medicine is stable, chemistry declining due to energyproblems and regulations. There are still very bright german scientists, thinkers, inventors and engineers that don´t get funding and go to foreign countries to try their luck there. Germans tend to avoid risks and play save not investing, losing their biggest advantages. The german population on a whole doesn´t agree with its politics. Politics can change a lot in a decade

Well Done Again &; Here's the recurring theme I noticed from your demographic videos on 1st-world countries: 1. Consider the slow demographic decline of a society that is functional, homogeneous, democratic-like, well-off, etc 2. Ironically it tends to make each person better-off especially the older ones (ex: GDP is divided by fewer people) 3. In most societies the younger people tend to produce much-more of the benefits of society & the older people (ex: retried) tend to use more of the benefits of society 4. However their older people tend to have much more wealth, gov influence, social-benefits, etc than their younger people 5. Of course a minimum amount of wealth, gov influence, social-benefits, etc are required for younger people to be productive & have/raise productive kids. 6. If-not, the demographics of that society will slowly spiral downward into an abyss no-matter what else it does.
