Richard Garnett wrote an imaginary construction related to the Papacy of Sylvester II 2 April 999 - 12 May 1003. How does one separate poetry from fiction or truth from fiction? Garnett's father, Richard, 1789-1850, was Librarian of the British Museum and Richard, the younger, 1835-1906, got the job after his father was done with it. Any errors regarding the pictures are mine.
This reading is from Garnett's book Twilight of the Gods and other tales (1888)
