Thank you my friend. It's a long time since I was called a treasure. I think it was my Old mum 🤣. Good fun with the capos yes. I saw the guy in the Mumfords using 2 capos to get to dadgad tuning. He tuned the guitar to proper drop D, and put a capo over the bottom 4 strings 2 frets up. That gives the dadgad effect. Try that 🙂. Thanks so much for listening and commenting it makes my day 🙂 🎸

That’s makes total sense. Move a full step up to get you open “D” then use the capo to move the rest of the strings full step up. I have never thought of that. Thank you.

Magic! As was everything about that series, and this song. Reminds me of other similar work of art I love, the film Brassed Off, with Pete Postlethwaite, comprising a great script, great acting, great filming and great music. Always to be fondly remembered as something very special, forever etched on many hearts. A uniquely-English classic. I wish I had the musical talent to give that a go. Thank you, Stuart.

Thanks for the video Stuart, I happily stumbled across your channel, Being a big fan of both the tv series and Johnny Flynn, open tunings, Nick Drake, JohnMartyn, Bert Jansch / John renbourne... I play this song in drop D usually and although i have used the 5-string capo technique, i've never seen the 2nd capo on only one string before..... Genius! thank you for sharing that glaring nugget of gold....

Hi Stuart, my wife and I finally got around to watching The Detectorists. We live in Ohio now. I'm Irish but we lived in Cornwall and Devon for a number of years before moving, and I find the show takes me right back to the peaceful English countryside. And this song and acoustic music in it is all perfect. I really enjoy your version of this! Really nice

Hi Andrew. I imagine Ohio is a beautiful place to live 🙂. We love Cornwall and Devon for holidays. We live in Nottinghamshire in the Midlands. I imagine Ohio is a little less congested than in the UK. We've been to Canada a couple of times and couldn't believe the open spaces and distances. Since i do some hobby archeology with a drone and detector i got curious and found out we had the series only once and that was years ago. Luckily i was able to buy the DVDs from the UK. Great story, Music and acting. I have a friend in Wales and visited her, also Cornwall. Very beautiful country. Would love to see more of the UK sometime. Thank you for your videos!

You're very welcome Kathleen. Glad you like it. I've also seen the guy in Mumfords do a similar trick to get to dadgad. He tunes the guitar to normal drop d, and then puts a capo over the bottom 4 strings 2 frets up. That gives dadgad. Such fun 🙂 Thanks for listening and commenting it makes my day 🙂 🎸

So I finally watched the show. Man I loved it, we both did, me and Evička :) Beautiful show, it goes on my list of favourites along with Avatar the Last Airbender. Thank you for the song once again, beautiful cover :))
