when it comes to catholic exorcisms, it's important to remember: traditions are social experiments that work. and even the demonology and occult texts are based in gnostic and dead sea scroll texts etc that scholars have translated and studied in the context of larger works for centuries. so they're kind of the OG demon experts in the West. It would be a cool episode to get your thoughts and reactions on the practice and history of exorcism. great show ladies, the only trucrime I listen to really. my gf was like, You'll like it, just try it, and I was like Ahhhh I don't know, but dammit, she was right. it's fuckin great.

To be fair, the exorcism can only work if the person targeted believes it can work. (And even then, if it is, like usually is the case, something caused by mental illness, the "demons" come back eventually.)

As I listen to this, the current date is 10/14/24, one month short of 50 years since the DeFeo Murders. Spooky? I should say so!!!!

Is it possible for you 2 to not insult religious beliefs people have held for thousands of years in an episode? Like cool, you don't have faith (neither do I) but to others that strongly believe in God and various religious deities the things that happen are very real to them.

As a very religious person..just let God judge people. Stay inside your judgemental hula hoop. God bless

Why should anybody have respect for religions that are deliberately used to both condemn otherwise innocent people who don't believe in them while simultaneously exhonerating the worst abs must wicked among us just for saying they DO believe in it.

Do you also call out people who talk shit about Shiva? If not, why not?

@keight6090 as opposed to all the people in these stories that aren't religious? I fail to see how having respect for a person who holds religious views is in any way different than being respectful of peoples political beliefs, or any other choice based belief structure. My point is that every video I watched has at least one or 2 jabs at people who believe in God. Great, we get it; you don't like Christianity, but is it necessary to constantly bring up that dislike?

@joelceda3500 if someone I know is constantly bashing any faith based belief routinely then I do say something. I've defended Muslims, jews, Christians, catholics, Wiccans, whatever else because people are allowed to have their beliefs and don't deserve to be bashed because of those beliefs unless it actively hurts someone or something else (like the shit going on with Haitians at the moment. There's multiple reports from people there so I don't give a shit what the official story is)
