Something happened along the way. Something very profound and sad between the 1950s and 1960s. The music that both kids and their parents enjoyed together suddenly changed and separated the two generations. @@bonjourpierre4778 - I get your point, but that’s only half true. The USA helped Europe recover from the war with the Marshall Aid Plan. Germany used the money well to invest in its industry and experienced the economic miracle of the 1950s with high growth rates. France likewise. Socialist Britain wasted its gift of Marshall Aid in building a wasteful welfare state, but still experienced decent growth rates. So yes - much of Europe did lay in ruins after WW2, but it did recover pretty quickly. Mind you, Britain only paid off its war debt in 2016.

The Gladiolas version has a latin beat and is really good. You can find it on KZitem. Check it out, you will like it. The Diamonds specialized in covering black R&B records and did this song somewhat tongue in cheek. (Note the exaggerated talking part) . But this version of the song is an absolute classic.

Clear sound and lovely images from Peyton Place. This looks like it was from the 1957 movie, not the popular television soap opera. The pretty blonde featured in most of the shots must have been Hope Lange. Most of the exteriors were shot in mid-coast Maine -- Camden, Belfast, and Rockland. Although this doo-wop classic fits the clips well, the film had its own award-winning score.
