I love NGC (for ancients), and PMG (for currency), but when it comes to rare United States 🪙's PCGS is where I put my 💵.

Great topic bro, thanks for talking about it... having just graded with all 4 companies, PCGS was among the worst for service in my opinion. Great experience & fast turn around times with NGC however. ANACS has also been great for me too! Thanks for sharing!

I like ANACS, but only their old style slabs when they were more strict and had more precise grading standards.

It's widely accepted that PCGS is more strict, so they command more money. A PCGS coin is more likely to cross to NGC than vice-versa. That being said, I don't hesitate buying NGC graded coins, especially since they can be cheaper. I always buy the coin and not the holder anyway. I've seen ugly coins in both holders. You have to develop your eye and cherry-pick coins that are more special. Great video topic

The obverse looks a little flat for PL, but the reverse tells a different story 🤔

myself i think the ngc holders make the coins pop more. coins look better in ngc holders. i no longer use pcgs for a few reasons, 1st coins coming back crooked in holder. 2nd coins i know that were cleaned (because i cleaned them) getting mint state graded and 3rd a few years back pcgs graders going to work at ngc. i had used both ngc and pcgs since the 1990's and who knows maybe someday i will use pcgs again but not today!

I do love your comment! I have had customers say they only buy pcgs.

My guess is the NGC coins sell a lot faster than the PCGS, all things considered.

But is PCGS the best service now. Crappy service and grades all over the place. I don’t know.

PCGS & NGC coins don't differ much in price overall. ANACS & ICG graded coins don't command the same premium over PCGS & NGC graded coins.

Just remember CAC is going to start grading on their own this year too so I'm waiting to see what happens with them and pricing. I have at least 10 coins I want to send in and most are Carson City so I'm hanging to see what CAC has to offer.

I only have four PCGS slabs, but 33 NGC slabs; and I can register the PCGS ones on my NGC Registry. I have noticed a pronounced difference in price for some select coins, but you're right about most of them having a difference of only $50-$70. I think NGC has more variety in labels- like the tramcar or bridge for San Fran minted coins etc. Still, I'm not buying and selling; I have (I think) a good basic stack, so now I'm getting MS/PF70s plus other high-premium/low-mintage coins/rounds/collectibles.

Watch your show all the time but the intro is to emo... you need a happier pumped up version like when you went to flea markets and scored Morgan's, a montage would be awesome
