Allegedly, the reason they were so touchy-feely with each other is because Frazer and Patrick wanted to annoy one producer, who complained that one of their improvised hugs "looked too gay". And because film was so expensive and they couldn't reshoot unless they absolutely had to, it all got left in. I don't know how true that story is, but I love it regardless.
@twamiespetquark.9130

frazer has always said him & pat liked too improvise to put gags in, one of the producer's apparently had absolutely no sense of humour at all so it was fun. they couldn't reshoot because of time mainly though; back then there was a tight schedule and as the old actors used to say it was really filmed like a theatrical play. if you made a mistake, you'd have to go right back to the beginning of the script and do everything again, which of course wasn't really an option, hence why there's so many silly mistakes in a lot of episodes.

@@plantainsame2049 I think the clothes change was a function of the TARDIS that clapped out after one use. It could have originally been programmed to change the Doctor's clothes to stop any embarrassing mishaps, like trousers falling down, shirts bursting open, etc. When the first Doctor went into his regeneration the TARDIS was going mental, perhaps that was one if the things it was doing. There have been loads of useful functions that have appeared only once, so that's my head canon.

The War Games was a great ending story but I miss Jamie and Zoe a lot more than I thought I would already. I think Jamie might be my favourite companion of all of them. :( I'm half tempted to screw Three and rewatch Two but thankfully it's a much bigger part of me that is excited for Jon Pertwee's kung fu moves and amazing way of speaking.

you might be interested to know that canonically, it isnt an ending. the season 6b theory is basically canon at this point, though it has never been addressed on screen. in case you arent familiar with it, season 6b is all the 2nd doctor adventures which take place after war games but before a spearhead from space. the 2nd doctors sentence from the time lords at the end of war games was deferred and he was conscripted into the Celestial Intelligence Agency. he also regained victoria and jamie as companions. This explains a number of things. 1: why the third doctor suddenly has a bunch of items the 2nd doctor didnt. 2: why the 2nd doctor in the 5 doctors and the 2 doctors seems older than in war games (as does jamie). 3: why the second doctor seems so much more competent at piloting his tardis in crossover events, especially the 2 doctors. 4: why the 2nd doctors tardis has a recall device and a new console room in the 2 doctors. 5: why the doctor is willingly working for the time lords in all of the crossovers he appears in. It is also entirely possible that season 6b is going to be imminently canonised by series 13 of new who. The fugitive doctor is widely theorised to actually be after troughton but before pertwee, as opposed to being pre hartnell. this theory states that 2 ends up regenerating into the fugitive (ruth) doctor and at some point either before or after this breaks ties with the Celestial Intervention Agency to become a fugitive. Once caught, The fugitive doctor is finally exiled to earth and subjected to regeneration becoming the 3rd doctor. She also has her mind wiped back to war games, and has his regeneration energy topped up so that he doesnt notice the errant regeneration which has been redacted from her memory entirely. This theory is somewhat supported by the jacket 3 wears when he falls out of his tardis in a spearhead from space not being the 2nd doctors jacket AND looking quite like the jacket the fugitive doctor wears.

I've never seen anything that said Colin Douglas hated being in Dr Who. He appeared in quite a few children's series and returned to Dr Who as Reuben in The Horror of Fang Rock. The director of that one asked him to do a creepy look and he frightened her with a fantastic evil grin. It was his second time being taken over by aliens, he'd already appeared in The Trollenberg Terror, an old British Sci Fi movie and gave another outstanding creepy look in that.

Jamie is pretty hit and miss for me. I do love the synergy him and 2 have always had, but there are times when he's the direct cause of certain things because he never learned how to really think before acting. Granted, this makes sense for his character and background, but it doesn't make it any less irritating. A quick example is Jamie being the sole reason The Great Intelligence survives in the last episode of The Web Of Fear, because he was outright fighting to pull the Doctor out of a mechanism - despite the Doctor pleading with him loudly to stop - that the Doctor was moments away from using to permanently wipe out The Great Intelligence, but instead it's merely banished into space, and 11 is left to face the severe consequences of Jamie's tendency to act on impulse. I do prefer Jamie over Ben, however. Ben irritated the piss out of me in The Macra Terror, but Jamie was great in it and earned my respect with his deceptively strong resistance to mind control, so despite my ranting I do definitely appreciate all the love Jamie gets as a companion, and I can whole-heartedly get involved each and every time I see him and 2 getting up to their old antics.
