Early 1965 saw the Dodos embracing the "Bad Lads" tag they had gotten in the media, and releasing an album that was a celebration of rebelliousness. The album was 1965's DANGER!, and was a tongue in cheek stab at all the parents who told their teens that Rock & Roll was dangerous for their souls! The album had many stand out songs, but Definitely maybe is definitely (not maybe) one of our very favorites.
In an interview for 'At The Hop' magazine, Samuel McHaclameny said, "Joseph and I wrote this song about all those birds that tell you they love you one minute and then go all wishy washy the next. Of course, I've been with Sarah Jane for about a year now, but Joseph is still steady pulling, so it's something he knows a lot about. The horns were Johnny's idea, and were arranged by our producer, T.W.G. He loves adding those kinds of bits into our music, and you can't argue with the results. Class tune, that one."
Of further note, on Samuel's first solo record, 'McHaclameny, One', he restructured and remade the song, and it's one of the stand out songs on that record, showing just how powerful of a songwriting team Lemmon & McHaclameny were.
