Following on from an earlier series dedicated to the Dome of the Rock, early sources throw doubt on whether the current inscriptions on the DOTR existed in pre-Crusader times. Why don't Arab Christians living in Jerusalem during the time of the Crusades seem to be aware of them? The only Arabic inscription appears to say Umar built the building originally but even that contradicts the inscription that exists today, which states that Abd al Malik built it. But much more importantly the anti-Christian diatribe on the inscription appears to come from after the church was destroyed and replaced with the current Dome of the Rock. If Ibn Khaldun is lying, why would he contradict the SIN?
Ibn Khaldun also says that there is no sound historical source for the claim that Mecca existed at the time of Adam.
