Today, we’re checking out the remains of the Donnelly River Mill (Western Australia). Ran by Bunnings Bros from the late 1940s to the late 1970s, Donnelly River is the only surviving example of a mill that operated off steam in WA. While the neighbouring company town is in great condition because it’s been run as a holiday park since 1982, the mill itself is abandoned and in bad shape. A shame, considering its heritage status and the uniqueness of its operation. While on-site, we also check out Jack Surina’s shack, the river itself and the remains of the single men’s huts showering block.
