Funny, someone close to them told me that at the Bowl he, Jim new there was a bunch of people out in the audience, specifically All of The Rolling Stones and they all wanted to see what the buzz was about - so Jim decided to be real still and lean on the mic stand for most of the show. It sounded great but it was boring was the reaction he wanted that night, and it is surely what he got.... thanks for this footage!🌹

Dean Milano yep, and Marianne Faithful, her French drug dealer who was a Count, AND Pam was with them too, she brought Chris Jones (famous actor) as her date that night and I think Jim just didn't give a crap.

That's a shame, because it's technically one of the best quality videos we have of a live Doors show, even though our vid of the Chicago show is much more exciting.

Dean Milano I know. Paul Ferrar, a good friend of Jims has some killer footage left over from "Feast of Friends" but he's not releasing it that I know of... I'm from Chicago too but I never heard of the coliseum. I moved to LA right out of high school in 1988, and I've lived in that same neighborhood in West Hollywood down the street from Norton ever since. I had a friend who actually recorded with Ray M, named Daryl Read and got to meet him. He said he was from Chicago, south side. It's weird because I've met all of them, their wives, x wives, kids...... except Jim. I've even spoken to Pams sister Judith who runs a Labrador retriever rescue in Santa Barbera. I KNOW there is some good footage out there still. It's people like you who have to put it up, there are others who just hold on to it for some odd reason or another. People are strange.....

RIght- Ray and his brother had a band on the south side of Chicago before Ray moved out to LA. I actually have a vintage photo of Ray playing with his band, The Ravens.

Well done, gentlemen. Almost better than the film, I enjoy the story of how it all came together 40+ years later, across two continents.

I think he's referring to the story I posted here about how the film came about and our night at the concert.

Thanks for being so generous not hoarding this unbelievable film and instead sharing this rare piece of great Doors (and rock and roll) history. Been listening to this show for years. A pleasure to see the visuals at last. The thing, actually the middle of When The Music's Over, that starts at 1:42 is just freakin awesome. Pure Morrison theatre with all its antics, building up with him saying repeatedly "Now!" (We want the World and we want it...). Need to sync that myself to the orig. audio. Buda

KeepTheFocus Steve that night used his trigger a lot. There are fragments of Back Door Man, When The Music's Over too but the final result would have been too scattered. So we decided to leave Break on Through just to give the perception of the dynamism of that evening. Considering the Super8 original speed and the audio track current speed, it's really hard to get a perfect job, unless you are a pro editor, that is not my case...anyway thanks for your kind words.

I remember Morrison doing a lot of jumping around that night and I believe at one point he even climbed up on one of the amps and flipped back onto the stage backwards or something.

Man, I really envy you guys...I'd damn near sell my fuckin soul to see ANYONE in the 60s, especially the Doors, I'm 35 and I have a nostalgia for an era I wasn't even born in, the 60s hands down just seemed like the best, all originators....With the exception of very few, there's practically been nothin but posers since😕

Good to hear from a young person who understands how incredible the music of the '60s was. There is great music in every decade, but the '60s had just a bit more than the other decades. ;^)

Thank you for posting. I was at both shows, in May and in November. The first show there was a riot that the police quelled as they were throwing bodies off of the stage. It only involved the people with floor seating in front of the stage but wild scene. Our seats for that were the mezzanine stage right. In November we had general admission so when they opened the doors we raced to the front and sat front row in front of Robbie Krieger. I have the ticket stub for the second coliseum show. 1 last thing in May Jim was still skinny but by November he put on a lot of weight and grew a beard. I've always blamed that change on his drugs of choice from acid and speed (skinny) to alcohol and barbiturates (fat). The end.

We had pretty good seats for the May show, but we never got as far as actually climbing on the stage.

..us at that concert.A foldi ng chair from the side stage-area balcony flew when- the music was over. but in true 60,s style, that chair was not anywhere close to anyone nor did they touch that stage. Not perfect manners, but 99.999 of us would always stop any raucous bull- Sh goin on. Nope, never any real crowd violence back then. No injuries or fights.Demonstrations were intelligent. If snarked at by little minds in the scared media. Not a lot changes. We were completely mesmerized..into the night. and knew we were blessed to be in attendance.

Vito Biangee that's all by now...the word "preview" could be misunderstood sometimes [an advance showing of something such as a movie or play before its formal opening]. Thanks for watching
