@@sids48 I agree with you. As great as their amazing performance was, the excitement of being there was also incredible. It's quite easy to describe the performance, and I have done so many times, as you can imagine, but it is difficult to explain the atmosphere, the excitement and thrill of being there, and the energy emanating from the crowd. And it is impossible to describe the feeling of finally being there, watching your favourite band and particularly, Jim Morrison, up there performing live. 💕

@@solobano570 It was a brilliant performance. The band were awesome and Jim's vocals were incredible . They performed all their old favourites, including my favourites (When The Music's Over and The End) so I can happily say I totally enjoyed every minute of their performance, as did most of the crowd judging from the reaction of everyone around us.

Wow!!! Lucky you - I am so envious! Which concerts did you see? I wanted to see them at the Roundhouse in 68, but I was deemed to be too young, especially as I lived over 100 miles from London. I had to wait until 1970 and there was nothing that could stop me from going to the IOW to see them. To see them 3 times would have been truly amazing!

@@Nictric1 Obviously RT BARNES can answer this question much better than I can, as I only saw them at this concert when, Jim just stood at the mic and sang. He hadn't slept for over 36 hours, and was in the middle of the trial, so he seemed to be concentrating all his effort on his vocals. But I can definitely say that he had a magnetism. He was bathed in that red light, and he barely moved a muscle, but I couldn't take my eyes off him. He drew the whole of my attention throughout the performance like a moth to the flame. He was mesmerising. I still get chills when I think about it!

You are very very fortunate. I missed him by only a few years... though if I lived on the west coast I would have seen him. He died when I had just turned 17. Just graduated high school. Started going out to hear music when I was 14, but that autumn, when I began college in Manhattan, I began to go out to shows several times a week. For the next decade... after the mid-80s it toned down. I still went out often-and still go to concerts- but it wasn’t nearly as often. The Doors, Joplin, and Hendrix are the only musicians I never got to see. Oh I sadly never saw Bob Marley. But I saw just about all who I loved, across genres, and in small venues. Again: you were a fortunate person to see the Doors.

The Doors with Jim only performed two other live shows after this one (none of which were recorded), at the last one Jim didn't sing at all apparently. They went back to L.A. to record L.A. Woman, and the last song they recorded was Riders on the Storm. Jim went to Paris and never sang with the Doors again. So this concert is the last recorded live performance of Jim Morrison. When this started I was thinking, oh boy this sounds like The Doors are tired and jaded, then the organ kicked in and Jim starts singing, leaning into the vocal, giving it everything, but also effortlessly. The song builds beautifully until 2:49 where it naturally dies back again. The Doors were a masterful live band. They knew when to kick it up a gear, when to sit back, when to pull it all together and they really knew how to build to a great ending. They weren't afraid to let the song breathe a bit, to let it ebb and flow and importantly they knew the importance of dynamics. More like a Jazzer's band than a rock n roll band in many ways. Thanks for this excellent footage.

The synchronization on this song is definitely off by probably about 1 or 2 seconds but it's still enjoyable. Jim Morrison at this time was facing 3 yrs at hard labor in a Florida prison for allegedly exposing himself and breaking obscenity laws. People were interviewed about Jim exposing himself and some people said he did expose himself, some people said he didn't and some people said it looked like he put his hand down his pants and stuck his finger out from his fly area. To this day it's still up for debate if he did expose himself and did he really die in France ? The French authorities never released any death certificate and they said they never saw Jim's body. I love the Doors music and I thought that Jim Morrison was 1 fantastic front man ! All I can say is R.I.P. Jim Morrison 🙏🏼
