He’s been gone for so long. Half a century. Time is so fleeting.

I remember a young woman I knew who didn't know much about the Doors until she saw the movie. She got so infatuated with Jim Morrison, she had posters of him and all that. Her boyfriend eventually put his foot down and made her lose the posters. 😅 She was more into Jim than him! I mean, I've been a huge fan for decades. I even have a poster of Morrison. It's the pic of him in the sunglasses with the black dog. Just a cool moment. As much as I love Jim (I think he's greatly misunderstood), I never had a girlfriend who was jealous of him.

Most women liked the film and thought it " romantic". So much for Ray' s claim that the film would make people " hate that guy". Btw if you can find it, Camille Paglia wrote a very insightful essay on the movie!❤

If there had been a collaboration of Stone & Tarantino combining The Doors and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood that would lend more credibility to both stories , biggest problem is the actors were at their peak decades apart and it would be a 5 hour long movie. Think if Morrison had agreed to play the character of Cisco Pike and his friends had made 8mm home movies of him on the film set during rehearsals at Olivia's, that would be pretty neat.

Stone got alot of Jims poetry into the film for which he deserves props. In that regard, it seemed to be influenced by Rays's own video about Jim . When Ray complains the film doesnt show that side of him , I shake my head and wonder if he actually saw the film.

Ray was funny--- "It's not about numbers, man, or money, it's about vibration..." Right, and I guess he wouldn't have minded giving up his house in Beverly Hills and his lovely cars, etc... ? ;)

@@AirbajaJim certainly felt that way. Unlike every other rock star who hit big, he stayed true to his beliefs and disdained ostentatious wealth. He drove a Ford Mustang and lived in motels and rented apartments. He didnt hang out with celebrities and frequent private clubs. He hung out with fans and co- workers and drank at dive bars and strip clubs! " The People' s Rock Star".

I lost alot of respect for Ray the way he obsessvively and disingenuously trashed the DOORS movie. I think He was pissed he didnt direct it. He says Jim wasn't like the way he is shown in the film? Actually , he was probably worse. It's still the best film about the rock scene of the late Sixties in America. Like THE BUDDY HOLLY story it dramatized the history but captured the zeitgeist. Fans who complain about " factual inaccuracies" know nothing about the filmaking process .

I don't even know where to start with this. Jim graduated from U.C.L.A. Film school, he did not quit and walk out. The script was the problem, maybe you are not the film expert you think.

No. I understand that biopics are not documentaries. I am a film journalist and have interviewed screenwriters about dramatising real life events in a movie. I really don't care nor do I expect a biopic to be a chronological recreation of a person's life. I.will put my Morrison knowledge up against anybody, even you Air Baja😁😉 It's drama not documentary. THE DOORS movie is mostly brilliant, but does fall down a bit after the Miami concert scene. It's not perfect Jim would have loved it. Btw most of the dialog and events depicted are factual . They are presented in an impressionistic manner which works emotionally . The film earned the group a legion of new fans.

Krieger called it a " pretty great rock film" even with the dramatic licence taken.

THE SOCIAL NETWORK also took " liberties" - Zuckerberg is much worse in real life- but it's a brilliant film and received little criticism for its dramatization.

If Oliver Stone hadn't changed the story to fit the artistic and commercial paradigm of cinema, it would have been an encyclopedia article without significance to anyone but researchers. If it is to touch all the people, it needs the razzle dazzle of the stage or screen. Certainly Henry IV's friends would have an argument with Wm Shakespeare.
