The Downfall of Fisker
Fisker Inc, originally Fisker Automotive, was founded in 2016 by Henrik Fisker and his wife Geeta Gupta-Fisker. Fisker's unique strategy of having their electric vehicles (EVs) produced by Magna International, a manufacturing company in Austria, proved to be perhaps not the best decision the company could have made. Additionally, Fisker adopted a direct sales approach, as opposed to using car dealerships to help sell their cars. The direct sales approach allowed customers to buy the Fisker Ocean online, which allowed for more customization and potential savings, however did not allow for crucial things that dealerships offer, such as test drives. The Fisker Ocean is the only EV brought to market by Fisker, which is a mid-size SUV that offers battery ranges between 231 miles and 361 miles depending on the trim. At one point forecasting 42,400 Fisker Oceans to be producedd, in 2023 Fisker produced only 10,142. And of those 10,142 Fisker Oceans produced, only around 4,900 were actually delivered, leaving Fisker in a desperate need for cash. In an article as well as reddit posts by former employees, the potential bankruptcy and failure of Fisker is due to leadership, specficially Geeta Gupta-Fisker. Find out about the downfall of Fisker.
