The perspective I have is that the tribe jumps to too many conclusions, because as far as they know rayla could have been the sole survivor and was on her way home but would've never been able to tell them

Amaya is an honourable soldier. When she saved the sunfire elf she was acting as an honourable enemy. The fight was over and there was no need for her to die. This episode shows Amaya as a prisoner of war being interrogated by the enemy leadership. She acts differently because the situations are different.

In Claudias defense, we learned in season 2 that her mother and father broke up and her mother told her that she needed to stay with her father and Soren. Because if that experience, all she wants is to keep her family together. In her mind, listening to her father will keep them all together but she has done it so much that she has become blind to his wrongdoings. It’s almost like she is trapped in a false reality in her mind where everything is sunshine and rainbows as long as she listens to her father. Along with that, Viren has so much experience in manipulating people that he is doing to his own daughter and turning her against his son who is starting to break out of the bonds that Viren has them in. You’ll see later in the show just how far Claudia has gone and how tight Viren’s grip on her is.

I can't wait for them to explain more about Runaan! It's such an interesting subplot. And I love that he and Ethari raised Rayla together. Just so great! And I do watch them weekly! And I've heard that I'm not ready for tomorrow's episode. 👀

I think the flickering flower is supposed to be Runaan because he's in a coin (as of s1 episode 8) but we don't know for sure! I think Amaya saving the sunfire elf was because she could see it would've been a pointless loss of life, but that doesn't mean she's suddenly all good with her years long enemies. She's been fighting against elves for a long time. But Ethari, Rayla, and Callum's plotline was definitely my favourite part of this episode! My heart broke for Rayla - they just banished her because she survived; she could've been captured for all her village knew! - and seeing Callum get so angry/protective/defensive on her behalf

The end credits have sketches of scenes, back stories, foreshadowing and the like. The end credits for the episode in which Viren turns Runaar into that coin shows Ethari crying when one of the lotuses sinks.

This is one of my favorite episodes of Season 3. Viren gaslighting Soren was extremely difficult to watch and really messed up. It made me really feel for Soren and how we was treated by his father. I grew to really like Soren as a character. I gained so much respect for Janai for defending and standing up for Amaya as a fellow warrior. Rayla's homecoming was heartbreaking. They ghosted her without knowing what exactly happened. There could've been so many scenarios regarding the situation. I loved the beautiful and heartwarming interaction between Ethari and Rayla. I'm happy that Ethari was able pull himself out of his grief and committed himself to helping and supporting his daughter. The moment when he gave his moon opal pendant to Rayla hit me in the emotions. What he said to Runaan matched so well with what he said to Rayla: "My love will be with you even when the moon is not." So no matter where she is, he just wants her to be safe and no matter what his love will always be with her. Overall an amazing episode.

Amaya and Juhani respected each other as warriors, I think Amaya would have rather killed Juhani in a fair fight than push her down the cliff and Juhani was grateful for the save, but they were still from enemy kingdoms and each was assuming the other was planning a major attack and were acting accordingly. I wonder how Amaya would have acted as a prisoner if she had know about her nephews' mission to return Zym home.

Runaan is in a type of limbo, he is trapped in a coin which means he isn't 'breathing, but he isn't dead. And I feel that Amaya saving Janai (the fire elf) was both honorable and self-preserving. You would probably get killed in the spot if you let the elf leader fall into the lava. But you're still a soldier and have been taught to hate the other side.

Ok, I have a lot to talk about for this episode since it's my favourite one. First, Ethari as a character was foreshadowed all the way back in S1 in the end credit arts. I believe if you look back at S1: E1, E3, E8, you'll see some end credit scenes with Ethari. The one in S1E8 is very emotional, I'll let you discover that one for yourself (a hint to why it's emotional in case it's not clear from just the picture: It's the episode that Viren coined Runaan). Next, the Rayllum dance!!! It is my favourite scene in the episode! It's just so cute. And not only that, after the dance, Rayla is ecstatic to be able to show Callum around her home, and all the places that are important to her childhood. It's so cute and wholesome, only to have the tone of the story suddenly change when she finds out she's banished. To me, that was an emotional rollercoaster. The worldbuilding! We got to see how the Silvergrove and Lux Aurea look like, and they're both stunning locations! The animation is also amazing! And that scene by the fountain was so so emotional and beautifully animated! We also saw what happened to Amaya after she was captured. And we got some interactions between Viren, Claudia, and Soren, which were very interesting interactions! And knowing you, you'll probably love episode 5 so I can't wait to see your reaction to that!

Love that you dropped all of these thoughts, Skye! I didn't look at all of the art in the first season, so I definitely missed the Ethari foreshadowing. I loved the Rayllum dance, too! It made my heart sing. This season is just excellent, but now I'm really excited to watch episode 5!

my theory is that at some point in s4 viren is gonna go after ethari.. SPOILER: i mean, he's already got runaan trapped in that coin, and presumably rayla's parents.. so it would make sense for him to try to get ethari too.. OR ethari spots that runaan is still alive and goes after viren and he gets trapped that way

Amaya's had been fighting elves for a while. That's why she's hostile. She cold-clocked Rayla with a right in season 1. She's a prisoner. Do you want her to be friends with her captors? That scene was well written if you ask me.

Back with Human Rayla, I was waiting for payback, but I was disappointed with Elf Callum. With Saleer and Kasef, a thing to wonder is if this is Opeli's doing or if Saleer is acting on his own accord. Looking at the situation that Amaya was in, she may have been a little too hot headed. Ghosting is a little odd since Rayla still had the key to access the village.
@ReelJames

I'm growing to trust Opeli a little more, so *hopefully* this wasn't her doing! Amaya definitely is lucky they didn't throw her in captivity for acting that way. Such a delicate situation she's in, now!

@@ReelJames I think of the series. There are so many things, which I absolutely loved in this episode. 1. We got to see Rayla from a different pov than usual. She was abandoned by her own people, which she counted on. I think this was the first time, that she really didn't know what to do. She was just hurten and confused. 2. The Rayllum dance was really cute 3. I absolutely loved Ethari 4. I really love Claudia and Soren, so it was a little highlight for me, that they confront their father, even if it didn't do much. 5. Amaya. I love her so so much. She is definitely one of my favorite characters and her plot line (even it's just a side line) gets me every time. The light ceremony was so intense to me and I got goosebumps everytime I'm watching it. 6. The structure of the episode was fantastic So, this was an episode, which was offering everything to me and it couldn't be better (in my opinion)

Because the ghosted elves could’ve realized that being turned invisible would allowed them to do things like stealing and getting revenge easily. Not to mention they could easily lead an army to the village, burned it to the ground, and kill everyone and the inhabitants would be powerless to do anything about those things.
