When I lived in London in 2004 everyone was going to Dubai for vacations, nobody even considered Brazil, always wonder why. Living abroad, I knew how wonderful Brazil was. The international media has a prejudice against Brazil, only showing our dark side, as every country has; maybe that's the reason we don't receive as many tourists as we could.

This comparison with Dubai was very annoying, Balneário Camboriú was called the Brazilian Dubai solely because of the high buildings being rapidly built by the beach, it is one of the few places in Brazil where the city hall allows tall buildings, it does not serve as a comparison. It was always a hidden gem where people from the south had beach houses and apartments for leisure, Brazilians from other regions didn't even know that Balneário Camboriú existed until recently, with this media advertising, city is now with many internal migrants from the poorest regions of the country in search of earning money.

I think nowaday there isn't so much difference anymore. Brazil has developed a lot during de last 15 years. Almost all the cities, the airports, the roads, the ports, etc, have been renovated. On the other hand, in consequence of immigration issues, first world countries now have to manage with third world problems, like poverty, hunger and violence. Few people know, but Brazil is very advanced in a lot of sectors, for exemple: - Brazil was the first to discover and explore the pre-salt oil (the real benefits of this didn't come yet) - We became the 3rd country in the world able to develop and produce a geared-turbofan aircraft (Embraer E2). - Brazilian executive jets are dominating the market. One of them, the Phenom 300, has been being the best seller in its class for the last 10 yars. - We have one of the biggest naval industries of the world, producing since small boats until huge ships and oil Platforms. We have luxury yachts and megayachts brand, like: MCP Yachts, Inace, Shaefer Yachts, Intermarine, Riostar, Okean, etc. - We are in the path to become the 6th country in the world able to develop and build a nuclear submarine. - We can be the first nation in the world able to produce a hipersonic engine (the first flight test was succesfull). - The first 100% brazilian Satellite was launched last year. - We agreed a joint venture with Sweeden to develop a 4/5th generation fighter jet, which already is in operation. - We started the operation of the "Sirius" particles accelerator, wich is one of the most powerfull and modern in the world. - We have one of the most advanced IT sectors of the world, most of the big tech companies have offices here. - We have one of the most advanced Bank sector of the world. - We are the 3rd largest exporter and producer of food in the world (specialists says we are going to be the first until 2030) and our agriculture is one of the most efficient, due to a lot of research and technology - The Brazilian architecture is very famous all around the globe - We have the best dentistry sector iand one of the best and most advanced helth sectors of the world - We have a very diversified industry, able to produce almost everything. As you can see, depite Brazil has so many problems, it has a lot of good stuff too. I have already been in a few dozen of "first world" countries and i don't change Brazil for any off them.

Btw, we don’t know who gave this city the title of “Brazilian Dubai.” I know some of you don’t like this kind of comparison (of this city or any other place in Brazil). But the titles existed way before we came to Brazil. We heard of these titles from the locals actually. And believe it or not, some are proud to say “We have Dubai in Brazil!” or “We have Japan in Brazil!” And I think it’s not because people like to make comparison. Rather, it’s because there are similar characteristics between the two places. Like when a city or municipality declares its “twin cities” which is common in Europe. But we agree that each city is unique on its own❤️

Balneário Camboriú and the whole state of Santa Catarina as well is a very safe place to be and live because you are white, but you being from Belgium, a country where people are overjoyed by being racist and vomiting any kind of prejudice and moving to a place like this one, is kinda funny and pretty ironic.

omg guyssss I LOVE seeing how much fun you’re having here! lost ivana is a vibe! hahahaha ❤️ while you’re still in the south region, don’t miss the opportunity to go to Foz do Iguaçu to see the waterfalls, it’s really something you don’t get to see everywhere. and if you ever to go Rio, the one city that you cannot miss is Paraty, it’s like traveling in time! the colonial architecture, the landscape, the culture… everything is just so well preserved, it’s one of my favorite cities in Brasil along with Ouro Preto in Minas Gerais state ❤️ in central Brasil two other places worth visiting are Bonito and Chapada dos Veadeiros, if you like amazing natural landscapes these two are a must! and finally, if you go north/northeast you can see the Lençóis Maranhenses, the island of Fernando de Noronha and some of the most beautiful beaches we have in the country ✨
