I love how they are able to capture me blend both the Beatles and Syd Era Floyd into this loving and silly video. The oil projections (Floyd) the creepy costumes (Beatles) the overall playfulness and art school vibe of the video (Beatles/Floyd). I am 35 but discovered the Beatles in elementary school and became obsessed (I cried watching a documentary when it got to their breakup). I remember being challenged at first by the psychedelic era of my favorite band, but then embracing it as my favorite era. I owned only two full Beatles albums apart from my anthologies (red and blue albums), Sgt. Peppers and Magical Mystery Tour. I still love those albums.

They even went a layer deeper, with 'lost' demos of this song and others from 25 O'Clock. As the story goes, the lost tapes were from a few years earlier (circa 1964), and were 'discovered' shortly after the 25 O'Clock songs came out. The lost demos sound very similar to 1964-era Beatles.

XTC - remember them? The 'smart' critics rubbished Sgt Rock (some even Senses working overtime); Andy and the boys were screwed over big time by Virgin (allegedly - I just can't quite remember where i read that reference Yer Honour, but read it i did, so it aint just me that's sayin it). But, soft! what sounds through yonder Mirsch speakers break? Ill tell you - its Andy and Dave two of the most mellifluous guitarists in any band. Andy Partridge's lyrics are sublime (but they were always a band and worked as a team). Born in 50s Ireland, I'm a child of the 60s and remember Psychedelia - DoS took it, satirised it (even better than the Small Faces) and lovingly pimped it for the end of the century and without plagiarizing or copyright infringement. Andy and the boys are profoundly underrated, immensely talented and they have always made me Stupidly Happy. Live Long and Prosper XTC/DoS

There are very few bands (songwriters) who have such a wholly unique catalogue and yet show their influences so obviously. Partridge is gifted in too many ways to count; Moulding's pop-craft remains remarkable in a landscape of throwaway radio hits. I will risk being a pop snob by saying (as some others on this thread might) that they were too clever by half.
