I still see some people defending MoM by saying it was meant to be humorous and/or that we needed to be shown Wanda was terrifying. Well that's nice and all but it's the FIRST TIME we've ever seen a legit Illuminati in this cinematic universe. We're told they are powerful, important people but we don't see it. If it's just another timeline and meant as a joke why not cast them as nobodies? People have been clamoring for Krasinski Reed Richards for years and now it turns out it's very likely he's not going to be playing Mr. Fantastic in the future. I've been saying for years that the most actually subversive thing Hollywood can do nowadays is to just tell a straightforward story. Subversion itself isn't bad, but when it's the lazy-ass kind where you just take what traditional storytelling would do and just put a minus-sign in front of it, that in itself becomes both tiring and predictable. And often not very dramatic.

I get the lord of the rings was originally going to be two films. The idea of turning it into one film, was all of disney studio's doing. Not Miramax. I know they edited films. They still are doing it anyways. But there is a feel of substance underneath it. The Miramax company felt it was justified. Not to spite creative freedom from its directors. It can happen if they meet the requirements and are given a chance to obtain it. If they failed, or argue or become rebellious. Then sadly, the directors themselves have screwed up their chances. Life doesn't work that way. Maybe the former Miramax producers had a point in how to make films. Because this what hollywood has got left to do as a last resort and risk. The Weinstein brothers helped with the making of the lord of the rings film trilogy to the end. This is criticism against in the views from woke culture, liberals, and sjws.

There is some substance when he edited films, a quote by Harvey Weinstein is stated here: "I'm not cutting for fun. I'm cutting for the shit to work. All my life I served one master: the film. I love movies". Which he definitely he had a point about here. The same cannot be about today's Hollywood days. All this political views about liberals against conservatives at each other. I am not into political stuff and philosophical debates. I not into politics. I get why All The Pretty Horses wasn't well received by audiences and critics. As for me, I was a child back then. Even producers like Kevin Fiege of Marvel Studios, does this too. I giving it a pass. I will not argue about it. They edited films for trying to feel justified. Was criticized for the removal of political subtext. I am okay without it. Political subtext can just at least be a passing mention. A quick detail. When The Simpsons tv series decided to make Lisa Simpson. A political soapbox and activist. I wasn't a fan of this idea. It didn't work out. I consider that idea, a failure. Back in high school, I told in 10th grade, I was told the social justice system. I was confused of it stands for etc. I failed. I am not a fan of political or philosophical beliefs. The whole government and politics stuff just isn't that really important for me. Like I said, just a passing mention. One thing that's important for me and my family, religion. Which is extremely important, including stuff like zen philosophy and spirituality. I don't have anything against politics or the government. I am not into being political, just a help supporter. A way I got freedom of speeches, is when a someone like a grown up, siblings, or family members ask me. I raise my hand for a simple speech. That's my way of getting freedom of speeches. Suicide Squad gives the impression anyone can die since they also kill another main character from the first one in it. In MoM I agree could have been used more but I don’t think it’s a joke and more like they were jobbers to make Wanda more imposing as a threat. Plus, it was really a test to see how people would react to some casting

I don't see what it adds to the film other than "lol see they're dead there's no plot armour!" or "we're so funny and edgy!!"

Yes! I didn’t realise just how often they keep doing that until you mentioned it. So sick of this shit.

How about a movie that's a fake out from the start, like from the teaser trailer, the first full trailer, second and third, right up until 15 minutes into the first act. A badass team, recruited from the four corners of the global criminal underworld, for mega $$. It's hush hush on the details, but it's an extraction. A high value client's child is gone. The retrieval is high difficulty, beyond dangerous. The team makes its various ways, one member at a time, to the staging point. We get backstories. All assembled together, the team is in a domed, steel lined room. Through a high window looking into the room, we see a hand a cigarette, an exhale. We get a "Hey, motherfucker! What's the hold up?!" from an annoyed team member. Then...a console button is pushed, in the smoked filled control room. BOOM! Hard cut to black with simultaneous sharp cries, cut immediately short. They've been electrocuted. Dead. All 5 of them. It's an extraction from the afterlife. Aw yeah. The soul of the child of an Eastern European warlord, killed by his own illegally sold weapons 30 years earlier is lost in the afterworld. Warlord has kidnapped scientists working in the field of the transmigration and tranconfiguration of consciousness energy across dimensions, and pressed them into his employ for nearly three decades to design and construct the very special kill room our dead team's bodies in now... They're met by the Warlord's most loyal, longest standing servant as they filter into the Limbo Room, there to give them their assignment... concluding by saying they can be brought back, but only through absolute loyalty, snd only with Warlord's child's soul too. This is getting long, but you get it. I'd watch that.

I was so disappointed by that joke in Deadpool 2. It's such a long set up for it too, that on a second viewing it's slog to sit through. Suicide Squad bothered me less because I expected it, whereas Deadpool 2 shot fakes scenes and put them in the trailer. But agreed its dumb.

This joke is the equivalent of filming yourself smashing an iPhone. It's funny because they wasted potential.

At this point I feel like the majority of what's done in films translates to "Fuck you, audience." Which is probably why the audience keeps staying at home.

Fair points, but "thanks" to the Marvel Multiverse everyone can be brought back. As RLM has said before many times "no one is ever really gone".

I feel like Doctor Strange pulls it off simply because it's a multiverse situation. So they can still give us John Krasinski as Mr Fantastic. We've already had Patrick Stewart as Professor X. Apparently we already had Black Bolt? I somehow missed that one. Peggy Carter we already saw in the What If? series, and that was cool. And black Captain Marvel is something we could easily get from more multiverse stuff if they wanted to do it.
