I agree with many in the comments: this is the best surf rig video I've seen. I really like the modular aspect of the whole thing. Definitely trying this out at Bethany Beach next month!.

Thanks Jerry. I double braid with a bimini twist and use a palomar knot for mono. I like the rig you are using saves time and versatile. Braided line can cut you especially when your hands are wet.

Thats the way to go Brewlugger you can beat a Bimini, I should have mentioned use the knot you think work best but these are the ones I use thanks for sharing, watching and commenting!

Agreed, use the knot you are comfortable with. Interesting application of the Flemish hitch commonly used on offshore trolling lures for strength and chafe resistance.

It really works, I have been bitten through double strand and the hitch was enough to hold the leader or hook its a great fail safe!

Interesting as always Jerry. My only concern would be that it seems like you have a lot of line to cast from that first coastlock to the hook looks like a good 7’. Seems like it would be clumsy to cast. Buy it works for you and thats why we love fishing. There’s as many ways to rig up as there are fishys in the sea. Thanks for sharing your ideas.

Good point thanks for sharing bcask61, with longer rods it is certainly more apt, I would shorten the length to 3-4 ft with a 8-9 foot rod and would not use at all with anything shorter just the double line. Thick mono will slow your cast but the bait lines up with my reel nicely on the 11ft rod and can get the bait where need be. If I do need to get way out the way to go would be a very short leader and straight braid which I can just remove the long leader, drop on a short 2 fooot leader and now I am fishing out by the sand bar. Thanks for sharing, watching and commenting

I use the KISS RIG...same fish finder, coast lock,barrel swivels...switch to steel leader for blues & sharks & rays...use 40# braid for everything else...also have enjoyed using salted clams this time of year...Cheers from Maine

Hi Jerry, That's a great setup you have. I like the quick change aspect a lot. Like you say, it's easy and quick to change. You can make the hook and leaders at home and have them ready to go at the beach. Great information !!! Take care and good luck, Mickey

Bait fishing is not as easy as people think, there are so much details and thinkings behind it. Most importantly fish will not be able to find your bait from a hundred miles away, just like any types of fishing you need to find the fish first!
@FishYourWay

So true Tim thanks for sharing, to add another strategy would be to let the fish find you, I often wonder how many times I walked pass passing fish when I should have stayed put? It all about the great give and take of fishing.
