I just wanted to say I will be using this method this year. The only thing I will do different is I will seal my jars in my dishwasher...I do not use a water bath anymore..more. Wife and I are making tomato juice to reduce down to sauce to make salsa and spaghetti sauce and what not. The issue for us is that slicing, juicing with one of those older style hand crank tomato juicers take forever, and also reducing the juice to sauce takes days. I think we spent 3 hours doing roughly 250 tomatoes to make what we think will end up being 14 quart jars of sauce. Trying to find a way to speed up the whole process. We ended up with GALLONS of juice! Im hoping a juicer machine like yours will speed up the juicing process, we can tackle the reduction later. The pulp just plugs up everything we have tried and makes it go so so slowly....

@Momoka7

The juicer I use is a Masticating juicer, the brand is unimportant. In Italy they use such juicers hand-driven or machine-driven to juice tomatoes especially. They deal with the skin, but most importantly they don't destroy the seed which can be bitter, especially in bigger varieties of tomatoes like the ones shown here. So I would use a different juicer. A nice side benefit is, they are quieter as well. For the pulp, my juicer gets out all the good stuff, that is the juice and the meat, the leftover is literally only stems, seed and skin. And way dryer then what you got here. But I would not suggest to get a different juicer, since you already got one. Buying another one would be a waste.

Could we just put the whole tomatoes in the blender and skip the first process?
@dreamstorealityhomestead4647

You could if it is strong enough to stand up to constant use. Even tho my nutrabullet is a great blender it gets over heated and shuts off... Give it a try!!

Most people throw away the skin and pips because they're full of lectins which can be toxic.

It makes no sense to use the juicer step, ridiculous. Why not just put tomatoes in the bullet? You are adding an extra step, juicing then blending then reincorporating it all together

My nutribullet isn't strong enough to chop up everything. So, therefore that is why I have to add the extra step. Like I said in the video, if I had a Vitamix I may not have to do this....

@@dreamstorealityhomestead4647 I guess I see you working hard and appreciate what you are doing, no disrespect meant. It just seems like you are doing double the work. I followed what you did but I kept the juice separate and made sauce out of the pulp seed skins. I bet you could do small fast batches with whole tomatoes directly into the bullet, or use a stick blender(messy). I also love that you just added the stove you needed, who cares what others think =)

This is not tomato juice this is tomato sauce.

No, it is juice. Way too thin for sauce at the point that I can it. However, if you continue to cook it down, it would make a great sauce.

@@dreamstorealityhomestead4647 Juice does not have skins or seeds blended. Juice is so easy. I put mine in a nesco roaster (frozen tomatoes) skins and all. Then put them in the roaster to soften and liquify, then put them in an colander (cone with pistle) to keep it all hot put it in a separate kettle while you are straining the rest of the large batch. Add the citric acid and salt to each jar and hot water bath. I do your way to make my sauces and catsup. Juice is just liquid. No pulp. I guess it depends if you like your chili a thicker consistency. Juice is the easiest thing to make out of all of them. The sauce and especially catsup or paste is a phenominally long amount of time to cook down for the right consistency. In that case I keep the seeds and skins in and blend them up with the juice.

Everyone has their own way to do things. I do not happen to like red water for juice so I make it the way I do. But for you, your way is correct and vice versa. Thank you for explaining the way you make things. 🙂

Not good juicer. Messy and not efficient. The meat of tomatoes goes to trash.

Can be messy, true, but if you watch the video, I show you what I do with the rest of the tomato. It goes back into the juice.
