Absolutely brilliant! Who's got the time to be cutting things out in circles? And I hate wasting fabric from cutting out the circles! This is such a wonderful idea and solution! You should get a Quilter's award for this one💝🏅

I luv this method. Less waste and faster. I'm currently making a yoyo quilt for my daughter's American Girl doll's bed. I wonder, how many yo-yo's did it take to create your grandmother's quilt. It's beautiful. Tfs 💌

This looks much quicker than the round. If I make a bed cover I will definitely do this. Currently I use yoyos to decorate things like lavender bags, etc.

Isn't it just, though? My great-grandmother made it and my grandmother always put it on the guest bed for me when I came to visit. It was the only thing I asked for when she died.

@@Elledee8642, Even though this video was made in 2014, it is still relevant as you can see :-) Thank you for a fantastic explanation. Your method is for sure a lot easier. And, I like the fact that there is no waste of fabric a lot! You're so lucky to have memories from your great-grandmother and grandmother. I want to say my condolences for your loss, alas, this is life but , not wanting to sound presumptuous at least you have something touchable to hang on. Thank you, and I wish you well :-)

@@Elledee8642 That’s so lovely that you got your quilt. Super special story I just love it 💕 I sure appreciate the video and the touching story. I noticed you have a little notch on your left thumbnail from sewing, it’s just like my Granny 🥰. I didn’t learn to quilt before she passed but I’m learning now. Quick question...I am a new quilter and need yo-yos, your technique looks easy and simple. Would it be easier than the Clover yo-yo maker?? I’ve not done either so I was just wondering before I bought one. I’m not sure on the clover it looks like edges stay raw in the gathered center...not that they would fray if pulled tight. I just don’t know 🙃. It would be awesome if my quilt lasted 80 years 😊 Thank you so very much for the video 💕

no need for a backing. Once each yoyo is made, it is double fabric.

I did my best. I only had a phone camera and I couldn't watch it and do the yoyos at the same time. I am not a pro - I only discovered this great method and am sharing it with whoever wants. It is also a reference for me in case I forget. My channel is not for making money, just for sharing. Everyone else who commented seemed to be happy with it, but again, this is not a professional video nor was it meant to be. It was simply to record this method I invented.

@@Elledee8642 You should be commended for actually replying to the rather rude OP, and so many years after you uploaded this video. Yes, it was a bit hard to see, but certainly not impossible, and I learned a very useful tip - thank you.
