Which video showed the gut strain for uneven ground. I have some fencing to do and there is no flat ground. Hoping to use Whites Stiff Stay. Tall enough to keep the Ridgeback in.

Any tips on fencing a small area? Say 10mx5m ? Good enough to keep hares and rabbits out?

Great idea for a video. In the meantime, using maxtensors or gripples in small jobs allows you to get good tension.

Thanks. With the tensioners how long can the fence be before you have to do multiple along the fence.

Depends on the wire you are straining and the land you are working on. On flat country running 7 or 8 line mesh or five line barb, one Kilometer strains are not uncommon, on hilly country or straining 13 line horse mesh, 100m might be the most you can achieve.

Well that's a different way 🤔, just tie off the prefab direct to the post? 🤷♂️

On long runs ok. Shorter ones loose too much tension.

Great video as always Tim. Have you got any advice to running prefab fence plus a bottom, middle and top barb? I can’t get my head around straining it up without fouling 😅 thanks

Why barb?

@@FarmLearningTim my friends were told they ‘had’ to have barb to keep the goats in . . . Thanks

@ombleson Top plain wire electric and bottom on offsets 300mm above ground is ideal. Don't use mesh over a 15cm picket spacing or goats will get stuck. Horse mesh for miniatures in small paddocks.. Barb will cause issues with stuck stock and wildlife injuries if used on top. If you really must use barb, rather than electric (one or the other, never both), then strain it and walk the line, strain again, etc. But I would encourage you to use safer, less cruel methods of stock restraint.

Good work Tim. I'm interested to hear your thoughts on using something like Murray (Whites) Stiff stay 13 115 15 without any 'save' wires. My top tip for you, use a post clamp as a guide to cut the peined top off your post with an angle grinder before you try to put the cap on. Also, crimped terminations with the wire strained back on itself to avoid all knots. John

G’day John. Lovely to hear from you mate. I’ve done the pocket strain in a previous video. It works really well with steel box end assemblies! I have 13x115x15 dog fence with footer. I’m actually doing a video on that soon. Have two sections of fence over a year old and really good. Good tip about clamps

Great system 👌. It would be awesome if you could possibly give us some ideas on pricingol of fencing components & tools. Because if you've only got 3-4 fences to erect, then maybe it's better to pay someone to put it up who already has the tools, rather than buy everything that only gets used 1-2 times. Cheers 🙏

Your local fencing supplier should have them. They are pretty much standard
