I’m currently 30 weeks pregnant....I sent my husband out 4 days ago to get me orange marmalade because I was having such an intense and specific craving for it ... I find it so incredibly strange that not only did you post this recipe only days after...but that you mentioned how much you craved it when you were pregnant!!!!! How weird!???? My orange tree was going crazy. So, I just made your orange marmalade. It is delicious!! This was my first time ever making any kind of jam/jelly/preserve. It was super easy. I had to simmer mine the following day a half hour to cook down the water. But, after I added sugar the 20 minutes was perfect .🍊😋

That's an interesting recipe, I've never heard of orange marmelade being made with whole fruit cut up, the version I know is made from the flesh of oranges and then just a little orange peel is added. My girlfriend makes orange marmelade and homemade nutella and then we put in on crepes togheter so they have a jaffa flavour 😁 I recommend this combination!

We consume yuja-cha in Korea, which translates to "yuja tea". It's just sliced yuja(a type of citrus fruit also known as yuzu in Japanese) tossed in equal parts sugar and/or honey and set aside to let the sweetener soak all the way through. The only difference is that you don't cook it and is therefore thinner; you just scoop a dollop of the sweetened yuja into your cup and pour hot water on top. Add it into sparkling water and it becomes yuja-ade. My mom would always buy a huge commercial jar of yuja-cha and serve it to our guests when we were living abroad. The tea earned a few aficionados, one of whom was my violin tutor, who would even scoop out the yuja bits with his teaspoon and eat it all up! And funnily enough, some of my family friends would buy a jar and spread it on toast - just like marmalade. I always told them that's not the proper way to eat it (or rather, drink it) but now that I look back, whatever floats your boat.

I always thought you needed Seville oranges for marmalade. For the last two months marmalade seemed to have disappeared form the stores and I was craving it. I have a medical condition where I am on a low potassium diet and oranges are not allowed, but clementines are. So that's what I used, and i'm amazed by the result. Thank you a thousand times, next time I will replace one clementine with another lemon, because I really like a touch more bitterness.

Not a fan of marmalade, but I have a lemon & an orange tree. I didn't even know that lemon can be put into marmalade. Plus I was under the impression that only the peels were used. I saved some peels to make marmalade, after checking with my neighbors to know that "they'd love some". If it turns out good I may just develop a taste for it, and next year I shall make more - I camopsted most of my orange peels this year. Made marmalade a very long time ago, so just checking to make sure I still remember the easy recipe. Yours is just like it - THANKS so v. much - Will try it with whole oranges next year toooo!!

I’m delighted to hear that! No, salt is not necessary for this. I hope it turns out well with the addition of calamansi. Thank you for being here.

@@biggerbolderbaking Well Gemma, I know you said not to skimp on the soaking. I only did mine for 20 hours. Boy, oh boy, I just finished cooking it and it is delightfully divine! I started with 200g of granulated sugar then added 40g more. My 84 y/o Dad would be happy to find this on the breakfast table tomorrow. It’s hard to find orange marmalade here in the Philippines. Thank you!

Excellent preparation. Can you please tell the ratio of pulp&sugar

Hi Tahira. I used different measuring units, measured the fruit by piece, and sugar in cups / weight. Sorry, I wasn’t able to measure using the same units to give a more accurate ratio. You can get the measurements here, www.biggerbolderbaking.com/easy-orange-marmalade/#wprm-recipe-container-45601 Hope this helps.

I happened to come across this movie today. After watching the beginning, I wanted to learn how to make it. I happen to have an orange tree in my backyard and a lot of them go to waste. Not anymore, thanks to Paddington.

Which variety are you using please? Must the orange be a sweet variety or the sourish type of orange will do too? In my country we usually get either Navel (usually sweet) or Valencia (sourish usually)

I never thought that whole chopped up oranges can be used in marmalade.. Will surely give it a try.. Thanks for the recipe.. My homemade marmalade crystallized over the time when kept in shelf .. Is it normal or any corrections need to made while preparing ?
@biggerbolderbaking

Hi Karmeka. Yes, that can happen. The lemon helps not only in making it thicken, it should also prevent the sugars from crystallizing. Check the recipe for this here, www.biggerbolderbaking.com/easy-orange-marmalade/
