Another above-average lesson post, Danny. I find it useful how you employ students (if that indeed is what Leo is) in your instructional posts. We all know you replicate a drill with absolute perfection. But it helps to have a higher handicap golfer struggle with your suggested drills and how you help him/her address their difficulties. Nice job!

Hey Danny, thanks for the great and easy to understand tip on pitching, this makes a lot of sense to me. I have had a lot of trouble with these shots and I am looking forward to practicing this technique.
@billc341
10 ай бұрын
This is without a doubt the best pitching technique video I have ever seen. I have been very frustrated after working hard on my game that many rounds were completely ruined by a couple pitching shanks from 40-50-60 yards. Nothing good happens when you hit the ball dead right striking the ball with the hosel. But I tried to work on these pitch shots for weeks and couldn’t figure out why these shanks would pop up at the worst time on the golf course. And they would also happen repeatedly sometimes in practice sessions. I almost took a long break from playing golf because of shanking my pitch shots. But I persevered by hitting low 8 iron punch shots to avoid the dreaded shanked pitch shot but they were very inconsistent and at times impossible to hit high shots over water, etc. This video makes it so simple to copy Danny’s technique and adapt it to your own swing. I have seen a dramatic improvement and consistency in my pitching and my confidence has been restored. Very soon those negative shanked swing thoughts have disappeared from my mind. I have gone back to this video to refresh my memory many, many times when I have had a long layoff for a few weeks from golf and it keeps me on track to stay more consistent with my pitching and my scores have come down as well. I went to an in person lesson at $225 an hour here in NJ and this golf coach wasn’t able to help me and the shanks kept coming back. Thanks Danny for an extremely helpful video that really worked for me. As we all know, we should be working more on our short game to reduce our handicaps.

This has to be the greatest pitching lesson I have ever seen. The reason it resonates so well for me is that I am a 16 handicap that has good rounds ruined by a shanked pitch shot. Some rounds I have 2 shanked pitches in a round which totally ruins your score because the ball typically goes in a trap or worse and ends up a triple bogey each time. I have had golf coaches help me with on-site lessons but nobody has been able to eliminate the problem which has been very frustrating. I think this lesson will help me eliminate this disastrous shot in the future. I will start working on it now and will keep my body and legs involved in the swing with an arch to the left.

@@DanielMaude Danny I was wondering why putting a golf tee next to the ball as you instructed helps eliminate the shanked pitch shot? That is a unique solution that I had never heard before. All other golf coaches suggested standing up straighter, putting all the weight on your heels, twisting the club more open on the backswing, staying in posture, at address exaggerate and put club hosel on far side of the ball, etc.

Brilliant. An earlier version of this totally fixed my shorter game (now my biggest strength). There was a comment late in there about it feeling "a bit out of control": EXACTLY how I know I've done it right.
