the orange chunks of failed lava looked a bit like honey. maybe you can use them for a hive of giant bees or something
@benjaminerb4752

I also thought about that. being a beekeeper, I use plastic sheets in the frames. they are textured in honeycomb. you can paint it and cut it out to make the interior wall of a beehive of giant insects or aliens. they are just not very deep

Lava usually bubbles up due to heat. You could blow bubbles with a straw to make that effect.

This makes me think of the Scions of Flame from Warcry. You mentioned Frostgrave before, but have you ever considered trying Warcry? Its a super simple and very fun skirmish game, that you might enjoy. My friends and I don't play much else these days it's so good.

Pro tip for making believable lava flows: use a torch to melt a path in the foam itself. You don't want to melt it ALL the way through, just enough to form the channel. Then add rocks and/or bark for stone way and paint

This! Also, when painting lava you want the base layer to be yellow, then when that's 90% dry you want to hit about 70% of it with orange. Again, wait until it's 90% dry before hitting about 1/4 of it with red. Dry brush the ground where the lava touches with red for a glowing effect. No idea how to do the resin bit though. Also, when painting hot coals, you want to use white primer and base red, then when dry hit it with a light dry brush of dark grey over the whole piece followed immediately by a heavy dry brush of black over all of the piece (the dark grey was just to give it a faux zenithal - it won't make MUCH of a difference but the difference is there). The end result should come out looking like hot coals (the bright parts are at the bottom and the cooler (black) parts at the top).

That hardened resin looks like amber, you could definitely do something cool with that! I'm curious if you've had any issues with the charcoal wandering off onto minis during play? It looks great but I'm wary of people's minis starting to look like your hands while applying it, haha.

Yeah it does look like amber. Would look cool if it was carved into a crystal, hallowed out, and had an ultra-bright LED glowing inside of it.
