The Golden Era of basketball to me was that early to mid 2010s Run, When teams just played to their Identities. You had Ball/people movement teams like Spurs, Iso slow grind teams like Celts/Lakers/Grit n grind Grizzlies, Defense Running and incredible play making like The Heat and OKC, Tempo teams like Clips/Early Warriors. Teams weren't slow af Iso ball like the 90s/2000s and teams weren't just jacking up 3s all game like now. Like man the Celtics are so good Jrue White Brown Tatum Kristaps Horford but OMG its just a 3pt analytics contest every game for them.

This generation of young fans are spoiled in a sense to be able to see their favorite players from childhood play so late into their careers at a high level. My hot take? If they wanted to create one last super team I'd actually like it. It would be more like the Celtics when they were past their prime. Bit more respectable then. Make the new generation really earn it, and have fun before retiring.

This has nothing to do with race but rather with watchability and market size. You’re right about the American aspect tho. I’ll tell u this, as a Heat fan and south Florida native… If Pat Riley is the reason Jimmy isn’t here next year… Pat Riley will get BOOED and be HATED down here, no matter what he did before. Jimmy deserves whatever he wants. It’s Pat job to build a contender around him and he hasn’t. Putting Bam at center every year is just the start, he’s be so much better as a PF and a Myles Turner next to him at Center

I've witnessed a few eras come a go from about 1990 to now and its always a pretty seamless transition...in a few more years we'll be saying goodbye to players drafted in the early to mid 2010s while we witness the primes of luka, shai, edwards & tatum

This is the third era I've seen end and it's a little weird this time because they still seem elite. Most old players fell way off when I was younger. Old shaq and post achilles Kobe are prime examples. My childhood hero Shawn Kemp was awful. Lebron, Steph, KD... are still nasty.

@@AddisTime WYM not Ant and Tatum? Are they both not top 10 players, or at least top 15? Also both of their teams are in the conference finals, and at least one of them will likely make the finals.

Great players from the 2010s that are still playing that didn't get a mention.... Chris Paul, Damian Lillard, Klay Thompson, Anthony Davis, Draymond Green, Kyrie Irving, Russell Westbrook, Demar DeRozan and the one and only Derrick Rose. We got to witness a great era.

It's crazy to see how time flies. Like i remember Steph was cooking the league like it was just yesterday, Lebron was making 8 straight finals, KD was on okc with Russell Westbrook, and James Harden cooking ppl and making 50, 40, and 60 point games look normal. It's crazy now we in 2024 talking about how these players time is running out and how much time they have left. Man it's gonna feel weird when these players just retire one by one until they're all gone into the basketball afterlife with the other legends. Random side note: I just realized that a generation is gonna pull the "We done with the 10s and 20s!" And how "Lebron wasn't even that good he played bums" or a statement that "Oh curry wasn't even that good. He wasn't even that good of a shooter." And we are scrambling trying to show them games, clips, and legit evidence that they was but they claim they weren't that good. Just wild.
