Did you hear how much LV recently paid to purchase the new building on the Avenue Champs Élysées? 770 million Euros! They got a big debt their customers got to pay for now. So stop buying and watch the prices go down. Keep the poker game going.

Tip of the iceberg. LV owes so much money to the ECB. These western brands also employ a lot of european people and owe them a salary and white people are expensive! One thing I never hear Tanner Leatherstein talking about (because he doesn't know that much about probably no offence to him) is the time and cost of product development and making it worthwhile sending a "new" product down a production line.

No offer to help locate it or offer to continue browsing in store, just dismissed me from the store lines. The one in Beverly Hills flat out told me they were “at capacity” for the day. I'm going to nerd out for a minute. 🤓 When you think about the economics of pandemic times, everything went up in price. There are good reasons for that. For instance production decrease due to covid lockdowns resulting in scarcity of labor/materials and then ultimately supply chain issues. Prices went up for everyday items like milk and eggs, not only luxury brand items. The stinger is that when the labor, materials, and shipping went back to pre-covid times, corporations didn't reduce their prices as a result. Instead, they enjoyed the higher profits from covid pricing and we had to say "hello" to corporate greed. There was absolutely going to be a reckoning with the corporate greed running rampant because consumers would eventually tighten their wallets and corporations would feel it. Hence the price decreases we're now seeing. I don't know if I'd call it "sneaky" that brands are reducing their prices - I think it's just basic economics of supply and demand that brands are finally listening to. That's why I believe we're seeing the effect of all this in the form of corporations modifying their pricing strategy.
@cps525i7

I gues its hard to get out from under it when corporations make you an addict from the cradle to the grave. They condition you from childhood. Look at cereal boxes, kids tv shows solely produced to sell toys, social media etc... Its very hard to escape the constant pressure of your environment. Oh why dont you own a car, a tv, this that or the other. You get bombarded almost 24/7 with advertisements. I swear, im not a tin foil hat person, but im becoming more convinced its all a way to keep you in the rat race. Co dependant on these big corporations running around in that big old hamster wheel. Yeah lots of examples. Tesla Y used to cost almost $70k a year ago and now it’s about $25-30k less plus the federal tax credit of $7,500. Dior’s Toujours bag is less than $5k for such a large size bag. Introducing new products with lower prices is generally how businesses deal with price reductions but I guess if you’re like Prada and have a limited number of popular lines, then you have to lower the price to bring customers back in. It’s easier for LV since they release new bags like every month, but you are absolutely right on the money. LV has a new large toiletry NM with vachetta on the side less priced than the recently introduced one with a strap. They obviously think consumers are stupid and won’t notice.
@chatsandchops9967

With the car example, you are not considering the role interest rates have played in the prices. Few years ago car interest rates were about 2%- now it’s almost 7%. So if you think of the car note someone is paying at 2%, it’ll be about the same as someone who pays 7% today after incentives. That’s why cars have reduced prices and given tax credit incentives in order to retain customers. So the arguement of cars is quite different in this context from luxury.

Is this why LV neverfull is no longer “waitlisted”? Remember how people were worried canvas was being discontinued or something, or feared client advisors would stop selling them a classic canvas NF, pushing limited editions and leather instead? LV is classic, but I liked them bc they were NOT a $3500 per average bag store that limited access to customers. sure, they would be OOS of popular products, they’re still luxury, but I never had trouble having a client advisor at any location try to track down exactly what I wanted. I hope other brands stop with price increases, but sadly I see comments applauding them because they think anything under $1k is “too accessible.” there sadly are some people with more money/higher CC limits than sense who think that games that hurt the pocket are “fun”

The new version of the Gucci Soho Disco, that being the Blondie Shoulder Bag (the camera bag) had a price decrease last year. When the Soho Disco was discontinued and the Blondie shoulder was introduced, it was introduced at over $2000 USD. I noted it because it was so much more than the Soho Disco. And it was way more than the GBP price of the same style, which was 1230 GBP. I was so surprised by that price difference I commented on it in a forum, which is why I can actually go back and look at what I wrote. Because someone had noticed that the US price dropped to $1790, which it still is today. I honestly thought it was a mistake, that they accidentally put the wrong too-high price and were just correcting it to the lower, correct price. But maybe they saw people weren't paying like $500 more for practically the same thing (Soho Disco), so they had to lower a bit.

I’ve seen , heard a lot of ppl say they don’t fall for the Hermes game , it’s just a bag and they aren’t jumping through hoops to buy one . Seen 100’s of ppl talking about how stupid prices are and how lousy quality is and I thingk that for a hot second these brands like Chanel and LV thought they wanted to be like Hermes but maybe someone with good business sense came in and said hey this is dumb , not good business and only a few ppl will fall for it because most ppl have enough intellect to realize that they’re bags and not worth it at all and luxury should be “ I want it , I buy it “ and to get treated a certain way ❤ The quality has declined for soooo long it is sad !!! I mean look at that guy that tears the bags apart and tells you it really costs like 200 to make a bag if that 😂 … we are being r🅰️ped babies !!! I personally will not buy Chanel because of who coco was , a racist , anti semantic war criminal, NO TY … she was a horrible human being and I’m not supporting that family that owns it !!! I’d rather not support that , but I’m hoping the others are trying to become better for customers . You have to learn where these products are a being produced and what they are paying the workers. Are they paying a decent living wage. You know they have a substantial mark up originally. When I heard that Italy has quite a few Chinese workers in manufacturing now I wonder what the company is paying in wages as compared to experienced Italian artisans. I don't mind paying for quality if the entire process is equitable for buyer and seller.

I've noticed that the latest version is still $4,500 but has a leather interior, which is an example of keeping the price the same but increasing the quality -- at least in my opinion. How bitcoin of them. I don’t want to feel like I’m buying stock when I purchase an item. I feel like the price hikes had to do with resellers selling bags at higher prices and these brands wanted to make more profit by raising their prices. Hopefully people stop purchasing from resellers because part of buying a luxury item is the experience and when you buy something from a reseller that’s not vintage it won’t feel as luxurious as if you bought it from the store. Luxury brands should refocus on regular clients than to make them play a game and those clients shouldn’t go to resellers if a luxury item that they want is out of stock. Problem solved

I am pretty positive that Cartier changed their prices in Mexico, in my opinion it is because of the exchange currency going down (euros costing less) for example, I bought a Cartier Necklace for 56+MXN and now it is 55, it is not much of a difference (it is a difference of around 75 dollars) but I believe they did it because now it would be cheaper to buy it in Europe so they wanted to compensate the prices because of the new currency and I think this is a great thing for them to do

I've let a few rtw miu miu items hang around in my shopping cart on their official website because l was making up my mind as to whatever I should get them and noticed a 320 Euro price decrease off of the total in my cart, almost a 10% discount Now I wonder if l should wait some more, maybe it will drop further 😂

I had the same feeling when I bought my Tesla Model Y in sept 2022 for $75K then they started dropping the price and giving tax rebates. By mid 2023 my car had dropped in value by more than $20k. Now 18 months post purchase my car is valued at maybe $36K almost 50% less. I know cars depreciate in value the moment you drive them off the lot but the covid price increases have really burned us all in every category.

I would say this happens all the time, brands have sellsystem that shows what sells and what doesn't and then they will change prices during how products sell.

I’m probably not going to buy any new ones and just go prelove.. I’m just tired of their greediness and games 😅❤

Yup. LV quality is CRAP. Returned 3 items because they were poorly sewn. They say it’s handmade. By whom exactly? Because they are definitely no longer artisans who make their bags. Bye LV.

This what happens when corporate greed gets out of control. Ive been spending my money on luxury experiences with my family. They redid the Gucci outlet where i am from and their noses went so high up in the air. I took myself straight to the Versace outlet and had a ball with the SA's.

The new Navy Empreinte leather products are slightly cheaper than the same models in other colors! The Navy Empreinte Neverfull MM is £70 less than in Black, Dune etc.

I bought a LV compact wallet in 2016 (or 2017) that was monogram and red leather. i noticed about 1 year later it was cheaper! I found out as I was selling my wallet and went on the LV website to check the current price as I expected it to be more, but it was less! I can't recall how much it decreased to but it was more then just a few bucks.

Can you review luxury shoes. Thinking of brogues and loafers for women. Is the quality there for the prices they want. The Row shoes are close to $2,000 🇨🇦 which is even higher than Chanel and Dior 😮

Yes, at 8:20 you mention items are marked up; they absolutely are. I used to work in luxury retail at a big italian designer brand and twice a year ( once in summer and once in winter) we were allowed to get an 80% discount on sale items. These items only take a few hundered dollars to produce, what your really buying when you spend thousands on these items is the ability to say your wearing a designer brand. And the quality isnt even that great on most items :O But your right, they make a huge profit even if they reduce prices by a few hundered doll hairs.

These brands are tone deaf. We are in a cost of living crisis . I earn good money and I still do not buy luxury anymore I rather save for an emergency. Gone are the days you could buy a nice bag for 2k

It would be fun if the brands offered price negotiation like some shops offer a discount for a payment in cash 💰

Didnt LVMH fourth quarter numbers have a substantial drop especially LV? I think this is why we might be seeing reductions with the new launches. 🤔

Lv has gone down the drain quality wise. I had to return many items due to it being bad quality.
