Ok guys, let's keep our heads here and not give in to mass hysteria. For today's video I wanted to try something different to my usual videos. With the news that Hattons were closing down, followed by Warley Exhibition announcing it would no longer take place, along with a lacklustre 2024 Range from Hornby (in some peoples opinion) I wanted to take a quick look at all the recent events and see what this means for the Model Railway hobby as a whole, both in the short term and in the long term.
As you may have seen there were also a few articles in the news too that boldly claimed the hobby was dying and that this was the end for model railways, with most of the blame being handed to younger modellers who weren't materialising while current enthusiast continue to age.
All in all it can seem a bit bleak and it's easy to think this maybe really is the end for the hobby... or is it? While it's sad to loose both Hattons and the Warley Exhibition, how much does it really affect those who just enjoy modelling and playing trains? And is there anything we can do to help the model railway hobby survive?
