I like to think of creativity a lot like a game. You don't start a game expecting to be the highest level and already have all rewards, otherwise, what's the point in playing it? No, the whole fun, or fulfillment, is in choosing your path, becoming who you want to be, and overcoming challenges, it's in amelioration💗 Do you struggle with self-doubt in your art? How do you find ways to deal with it?

I remember the first time I uploaded a video to youtube. It was a river flowing down a mountain. I had so much adrenaline going through me, wondering what people would think of the video. Now I post art most days without any thought about it. You just have to keep on creating and showing your work. People start to like it, you'll develop a fan base, and then it gets really easy over time.

@wacky_paintings This is wonderful advice, and advice I’ll be sure to take! Thank you! I can definitely relate, when posting my first videos it felt like the world was going to end but now it gets easier each time☺️ I hope I may experience the same with art over time! Your words are really inspiring, thank you✨

Enjoying the process of creating art is so important. It can be easy to try to rush to the finish to receive recognition and accolades. Letting go, experimenting, and enjoying the process will keep you motivated and lead to advancement in your skill. Great work on your painting, keep at it!

Super therapeutic & reassuring video, thank you. It's really helpful to think of that 'completion' moment as achieving an inner harmony regarding the artwork, I'm going to carry that thought forward. In my writing, I really have to focus on compartmentalising my 'writing' and my 'editing' modes, with most of the self-doubt coming from the latter. If the latter turns up volume while I'm writing, then it's game over. I essentially have to keep writing whatever comes to me first without thinking about it, even if what comes to me in the moment doesn't make sense at first, or doesn't sit well with the 'editor'. What comes first is almost always better than what the editor would 'write', and usually comes together in cool ways I never expected. Later on, aspects or moments of doubt can help carry a work forward through the 'editing' modality. There are always some moments where I'll doubt the entire project completely, but I see some comforting quotes from the likes of F.F. Coppola, Warhol and the one you've shared from Plath that basically all artists have those moments. It helps to reconnect then with the goodness of and intentions behind the art when that happens to get back on track.

I need to internalize this mindset more with my short story writing. It‘s the joy in process that is most important. Really like that Plath quote.

That sounds amazing, do you write just for yourself? I’ve recently started writing fiction to practice and it’s been VERY intimidating but trying to embrace it and as you said, focus on the process🫶🏻 I’m happy this video resonates with you!

@@itszoewinter As for now my goal is to get better at the craft and to learn to actually finish projects. But eventually I would to love get to a point where I‘m ready to share my stories with the world! I also find writing fiction difficult but it is a worthwhile endeavor.

as always, lovely video. youre quite a talented painter! we are so conditioned to be consumers in society that we forget the thrill creativity brings. ive recently started making all my food from scratch, taking the cost of the labor out of the equation when i purchase goods. its so much more satisfying to prepare my own grilled chicken, vegetables or cook a cake than just buy it frozen or already made. its also cheaper! not everyone has time to be creative but, its the baby steps that matter as you said :)

This actually sounds amazing! As I’ve been learning more about Jung, I’m surprised how much he talks about creativity, and that most people nowadays suppress a lot of their creative energy because it’s not “productive” or a waste of time, and we feel the consequences of this as a lack of joy and motivation in life, so any little outlets for healthy creative expression is so important!😊🫶🏻

Another enjoyable video with a good message. I think your personality and process are what shines. Art is a natural consequence. Your videos share both. I like the game analogy as a remedy for perfectionism too. I'm taking that :)
