Oh Rosemary, that is absolutely tragic for you to have experienced. I'm not going to lie to you, there are going to be many a nights you find hard to sleep. But eventually your body and mind will take over and the balance Wil work itself out. A necessary process must be allowed to run its course. I'm so very sorry for your husband's passing. I pray you find peace of heart, mind and blessings blanket you always.

I am so so sorry for your incredible loss. I lost my son in December of 2021, and, in reading your post, all that devastating grief, hurt, love, hate, shock, guilt, and confusion- it all came flooding back…Untimely death complicated by addiction is the most destructive, I know. I truly DO understand at least that part. Please- just know that you will feel like You are dying from the inside out much of the time, and that you will ruminate through your days and nights-trying to find unknowable answers and to find solutions for questions that can never be answered. This will be extremely painful! I hate that anyone EVER has to endure it. But over time, this pain can help you to heal in a sense. You cannot “get over it” nor ever forget- but over many days and months, you can “dilute” the thoughts and memories and pain a little. I feel for you! My hope and prayer is that you remember this-somebody out here does care. Your husband did not likely choose to overdose…but the “demons” of addiction whisper in the minds of those we love that “you can handle it just this once”. I’m hoping that you know this in your heart too. Find your own strength no matter how small and weak it feels right now, grasp it and don’t let go. Minute by painful minute, time will pass and you will continue to live. Take good care of you and know that other people do care and believe that you, too can move through this. From this stranger’s heart to you, here is a hug you can keep always.❤~Tami
