I have fond memories of the sims 1 magic pack. It was so wacky and unpredictable I just love it’s chaotic energy

Sims 1 had the best magic imo. Also, watching footage of Sims on rollercoasters and Fairy Sims makes me so nostalgic and frustrated with TS4. Why have we gone backwards in content?! I love all the Sims games, and TS4 is definitely the prettiest, has the best CAS and B&B, but I have to do challenges and stuff to keep it interesting, as opposed to the other games which were entertaining without me needing to set rules for my gameplay or pre-thought out scenarios to play. SIGH.

I brought Realm of Magic right along with The Sims 4 just based on the great memories I had of Makin' Magic with the Sims 1. It was beautiful, but it definitely fell short, that's for sure. It had such potential, too. 😢

Surprisingly Sims 1 had one of the better magic systems. But each version is special in their own way.

That's what I like with magic in this franchise...they are so unique in each iteration that they are hard to compare, so nostalgia doesn't spoil the pleasure in each game. Sims 1 magic is really different from 2 which is also different from 3 and Sims 4 also have a whole different system

I like magic in The Sims series because they can do so much, and normal humans can become magical. Thank you for this video. I hope you stay well.

10:15 a bit of a mistake there: The magic meter builds up with every spell cast or potion made, which if not managed, can be dangerous.

Sims 4 seems solely focused on graphics and making money off of underwhelming packs. Id give anything for them to just remaster the older sims games or add everything from all the sims games and put it in “sims 5”

I started with sims 4 at release and just started playing sims 3 with all packs. I was venting to my husband how the game went backwards. I love the gameplay and all the aspects of 3. 4 is just…pretty to look at.

Sims 1 wins for me here. Also, you can duel others in Magic Town. I love the different spells, and chance of spells backfiring. Plus children have their own set of spells, one being to age up into an adult (YAY!). As for second, Sims 2 wins, because of the many conflicting spells (although, it would have won, if witches/warlocks could perform duels). Oh, sims do not adopt a spectoral cat (with Pets installed), it is a level 5 spell, available regardless of path (good/neutral/evil). Also, one thing that sets Sims 2 higher for occults, are the ability to have hybrids. Sims 3 comes in 3rd (see the pattern here?). Duels are back and interesting crosspack play with other packs, as well as within the Supernatural pack. I do love the consequences for spells backfiring (although not as drastic as Sims 1). Again, Sims 4 (imo) takes last place (although I do not own, nor care to own). I have watched gameplay, and the only truly unique/worthwhile aspect is that overcharged Spellcasters can die. The rest is watered down versions of earlier games. Even their familiars are a bit on the creepy side, not adding in relevance.

I loved the spells for sims 1 and 4. Sims 2 was not great. Sims 3 was a big improvement from 2. I'd like to see a mix. Spells that can cause a lot of trouble cam be fun but practical spell are a must... if you could cast a spell to do all your laundry and dishes you would so sims should automatically go for it too.

I do not know if you aware of this, but Sims 1 (although one could not cast on others if the castor's needs are filled) & 2 has the most practical spells, but equally as many damaging spells. Also, Sims 2 can make objects in their cauldrons, aside from potions/elixirs and reagents, witches/warlocks can create lamps, figurines, lamps, chandeliers (which differ from alignments), as well as the ones, that replenish all needs of their alignment or deplete all needs of opposite alignment (neutral witches/warlocks can replenish on either, as non magical Sims benefit just comfort). Witches/warlocks also can be hybrids (Sims 2 is the only iteration that allows nearly any and all occults combined into one sim). If you use mods, you can even learn every spell, without affecting alignment (meaning you could use evil spells if good, and vice versa (once spells are learned). There are also 2 hidden secret lots for witches/warlocks to go and skill up quickly, and you can have an outing whereby up to 8 magic Sims can skill up together. While Sims cannot duel (the downside of this pack), they can cast conflicting spells, and in some cases, this could result in fatalities (if a few needs get too low). As for Sims 4, first off, I do not own it, but from the gameplay I have seen, and reading the wiki, there is really nothing that stands out (aside from being dangerously overcharged), just the names of spells/curses/potions are more in line with modern RPGs, but watered down versions of previous packs. In my opinion, Sims 1 did magic the best, and it went downhill from there.

You have to purchase it from the sims 3 store, but they are so cute, they have different powers depending on what dragon you get and you can carry them on your shoulder
