This was such a fantastic run-down of vampire aesthetics! I will say though, I was a little sad you didn't mention The Lost Boys when you were talking about alternative fashion and its association with vampirism. I'm not sure if it's ever been confirmed but the brow ridge prosthetics used in The Lost Boys seem like they very likely were the inspiration for the prosthetics used in Buffy and the very accurate 80s punk styling in The Lost Boys could also have been an inspiration for the more alternative styles in Buffy too!

Thanks for watching! To be honest, this didn’t come up in my research when I was centring on Buffy, but that is so interesting! I’ll have to read more about this!

If they made Camilla into a movie like in the 2020s that would be a cultural reset on par with like Marie-Antoinette and stuff

I feel the same way, because without the Lost Boys there would not have been Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Besides Spike was designed from David as well as the makeup.

WHAT AN AMAZING VIDEO! I love the timeline you added, I've always wondered what influenced the aesthetics of vampires and what kind of impact it in turn had on everyday fashion. Though I have a bone to pick with you because the fact that you completely forgot that Spike existed and had a way grungier / cooler fashion sense than Angel is unforgivable.

Do you know what I absolutely deserve this slander, there was no Spike content apart from footage after I edited down! Angel just had better quotes about him from the designer. Accept my sincerest apologies and thank you for watching!! 💗💗💗

Awesome video, I do think The Lost Boys and Vampire: The Masquerade are important additions to the timeline for trends of vampiric depiction and aesthetic association. Vampires have had such an extensive presence and I think it’s mainly because of how alternative cultures have been connected to them. This a great video to introduce vampire history!👏🏻

Another high quality video! I actually had never watched _Twilight_ until a few weeks ago when one of your previous videos and buzz around "Twilight-core" motivated me to get myself in the loop. And the whole time I was watching it, the thing that interested me most was the class aspect of vampires, how they are inherently aristocratic and rich, _literally_ living off the life force of others, giving up their humanity to gain power and wealth...but I had totally forgotten about Marx's vampire analogy!--seems like that idea goes way back. I wonder if this connection started just because having Dracula be a Count allowed for the drama of a big mysterious house in the book (which I haven't read), or if there was more to it even then. I think the _Twilight_ vampire styling is my least favorite out of all of the modern versions, they made them look so pasty and clammy lol. I like the more romantic _Interview with a Vampire_ looks, maybe I'll watch that next.

Interesting video. You did miss a few steps, though; Dracula went through a whole series of costumes in the 50s-70s with the amazing Christopher Lee, where Dracula had a more Edwardian look. Nosferatu made a return with Klaus Kinski in 1979, & even Lestat got a makeover in the 2002 film Queen of the Damned; where he is a leather-clad rocker. There's also the 1987 film The Lost Boys, where the gang has a very rebellious & dishevelled look. As for Twilight, the Volturi clan dress VERY differently to the Cullens & might even be described as Corporate Goth. Vampire fashion is a delicious subject!

Yaay, loved it! Polanski's The Fearless Vampire Killers (1967) also depicted hot and sexual vampires dressed in a romantic fashion, mainly Herbert, who was also heavily queer coded

Damn, I almost forgot to watch this video...The research in here was A+!!! I decided to read some classic vampire tales this Spooktober, I finished Polidori's The Vampyre, Carmilla(which I'm glad you mentioned, YES, IT'S FRUITY), still reading Dracula. So this video came at the perfect time, mhah. I loved Interview with the Vampire and Queen of the Damned - as bad as the latter movie was, I cannot hate on it, the style&vibes were immaculate~ About the future of vampire fashion: if we actually get to see The Vampire Chronicles TV show, it definitely has the potential for a more loud and extra sense of style, we've been starved for some looks, I hope they deliver! The cozy setup and the fit was much appreciated, Queen! Thank you for this gem~
