When it came to local malls, The Exton Square Mall was always seen as the one that was a bit more fancier then the rest. Featuring many unique stores, with a clean and modern aesthetic, it was always a treat to visit. By the early 2000s most smaller malls in the area were starting to suffer, being overshadowed by the massive King Of Prussia Mall, a number of new strip malls, and online shopping. However the Exton Square Mall seamed to hang on, going mostly unfazed. Unfortunately though in what almost seemed like overnight, stores began to close and attendance sharply fell. Today the mall feels like it’s eerily holding on for life, sitting mostly empty with only a few stores remaining, including two anchor stores, and a handful of smaller chain stores to bring in customers. With owners who are supposedly broke, a failed sale attempt, and a lot of local land being turned into apartments complexes, who knows what the fate of The Exton Square Mall will be?
