Are you familiar with war jets? These powerful military jets have some impressive features that will blow your mind.
In this video, we bring you the engineering behind the F-22 Raptor, a $335 million dollar stealth machine. The fighter jet was developed by Lockheed Martin exclusively for the U.S. Air Force and had its first flight in 1997.
It's engineering for the time was absolutely futuristic. The fighter jet combined supercruise, supermaneuverability, stealth, and sensor fusion in a single weapons platform.
Unlike conventional jets, the F-22 used pitch-axis thrust vectoring nozzles in the exhaust of its two Pratt & Whitney F-119 engines to redirect thrust more than 20 degrees up and down.
It was designed to be incredibly stealthy with wings that align perfectly with its horizontal stabilizer, helping to reduce the radar signature. It was also designed to have decreased radio emissions, infrared signature, acoustic signature, as well as reduced visibility to the naked eye.
In addition, equipped with an integrated avionics system that combines sensor fusion, data from the radar, and other external sensors to enhance pilots’ situational awareness, you could guarantee that the F-22 would always spot you.
Once it did spot you, it could easily and efficiently target you with its three internal weapons bays. Yikes! Want to find out more about this beastly aircraft? Watch the video.
