The good old days when the Longhorn Band actually showed up for games and played. I despise those that refused to play last season, and they should never be allowed on the field again. BTW, I’m a LHB alum. I was ashamed of them. 😡

I agree with you. How can a group of a few think that they can alter the school song for something that happened in the past? "The Eyes of Texas" means love of the university, identification with the university and a reminder that no matter where you go in life, if you are an alumnus of the University of Texas at Austin, then the eyes of Texas will always be upon you. If those few don't like the school song, I suggest they go to Oklahoma instead. And I strongly think that if you delve far enough back in history, you will ALWAYS find something you don't like. But the history is past; the future is yet to be; so choose to live in the present and put your focus there!

If an athlete were on a scholarship and refused to play, for whatever reason, they would be removed from the team and lose their scholarship. The same with any band member who refuses to play the alma mater, regardless of their reason. Out of the band and lose any music scholarship they have.

People sit in classrooms and try to come up with reasons to be offended. There is nothing offensive nor racist about this song.

@@uncleogrimacy you mean everything can be offensive if they look for a reason to be offended? Yes apparently so. Nothing in this song suggests anything racial to it whatsoever. Race isn't mentioned in anyway shape or form.

Nothing against Texas, the longhorns or any thing. Just wanted to hear the song. For some reason they are calling it racist now and they want it band permanently. Part of the cancel culture. I think it's a shame and it should stay but that's my opinion.

Well, I suppose they're trying to add yet another school's "fight song" to the list of "It hurts my feelings", so we're trashing it! If some people try hard enough, they'll find something wrong w just abt anything! Why can't people except it's just a song & nothing else?!
