I met Mrs.Garrett at a video store I worked at. I was so star struck and nervous when I recognized the name on her credit card, my hands started shaking. Mrs.Rae told me stop typing the information I was to rent her the movie, she told me to come out from the counter and she gave me a HUGE hug.She said that she has never met such a star struck fan's reaction as did mine and she was flattered.(her words) This was my first job after being homeless for 4 years. I will cherish that memory forever.

I was a young dad when this show came out, and I have to admit I watched this show with my kids as they were growing up. It was the catchy tune that first got my attention early in the first season, and as I watched the shows each week, I realized they were teaching useful lessons to young viewers, but without hitting them over the head with the messages or preaching. Of course, there were always laughs and Charlotte Rae brought so much to the table. I still remember my young daughter and son, when I took them to an Angels baseball game, they were so excited when they saw Nancy McKeon and Mindy Cohn in line getting snacks. My daughter said hi to Nancy and Nancy said hi back with a smile, and my little girl was on Cloud Nine after that.

@@Diostillrocks I see it differently. Those issues you mentioned are what families deal with every day. In my family, I had a cousin who got pregnant at 19 and another cousin who struggled with substance abuse. Family is sticking through those tough times, because they are inevitable in any family. We can’t hide real life struggles from our kids. They’re going to see it everywhere they go. What we can do is teach them the importance of supporting one another in good times and in times of struggle. That is what creates family unity and family values.

Seeing them together brought back amazing beautiful memories. I grew up with facts of life. I would blink and go back in a heart beat. 💞🌹

2:28 “If u hit me with that, I’m gonna lay you out. *whack* - That’s all!” - Lol!!! 😂 I’d forgotten how much I loved this show growing up. I’m so glad I grew up in a time when shows were more wholesome and lighthearted. Facts of Life, Different Strokes, Three’s Company, Growing Pains, etc. I really miss those days.

I love Lisa Whelchel. I grew up, watching her on the facts of life. I was a huge fan of that show . I’m not sure if many people know that she was on survivor but I’m watching old episodes of Survivor and on season 25 she is one of the contestants and she does very well & out of all the players on the season only one person recognised her but did not tell anyone instead her & the other person formed a bond together. If you’ve never seen season 25, with Lisa Welch on it, it’s on Paramount.

It's nice to see that they all still remain friends, you don't always see that with actors/actresses from tv shows.

jfree1998 this show still had some shocking moments.... but it was a family show. They're still around in some capacity. Big Bang Theory, for instance.

Grew up watching great tv shows like Facts of Life and I am grateful for it. All the women seem really down to earth and I am glad that they won an award.
