One has to distinguish between fantasy and reality when it comes to rap because everything that a person sees isn’t real. Rap artists sell a fantasy in order to sell music. Not every artist talks about sex, drugs, money and murder. Actual artist that lived a certain lifestyle don’t brag about it.

That defense of rap at the end was my only negative takeaway. Basically it's a choice between identifying as victims or glorifying deviant behavior. One simply justifies the other. Both are illusions. That, for me, represents a net loss for society as a whole and the identifying community in particular. Just as bad as that whiny emo rock phase that the world went through, but of course in completely different ways. Rap culture has been, and increasingly continues to be a plague on black culture. Don't get me wrong, I love rap as a medium of music, just as I love rock, but the culture is toxic.

Most rappers are told what to rap about. The elite is in charge. Half of these rappers are not even gangsters. They are told to do certain things. Hence when they say they sold their sold what they did was, they turned their back on their own people. That’s what they chose to do, and as far as the lyrics most rappers are told what to sing about what to rap about.

It's actually quite simple my guy, you see our brains are wired by the frontal cortex and the hypothalamus and according to psychology our brains like violence and extravagance, since the dawn of time it's been in our nature, take the Romans and their gladiator fights, people love seeing violence, there are two forces internally that Freud stated , Eros and thanos, life and destruction we live in that constant duality of creating and destroying. So Hip hop taps in those primal instincts, and its about race the roots of hip.hop are founded in the Black and Hispanic community as a counterculture to police violence and living marginally, it's a psychosocial construct my guy. Add capitalism and you have a perfect endless loop.
