According to Liborous Oshoma, Those we called thieves in government of yesteryears are today our economic saints, as the saints who knew the solution to our problems of yesteryears are the thieves of today.
THE FALL & FALL OF THE NIGERIA ECONOMY
Apart from the collective stealing of state resources by government and the people, no economy grows when the federal government shares handout to its federating units like a mother handing out feeding bottles to her babies.
Until we have independent States that can guarantee security and enabling environment for manufacturing, production, thriving agriculture and processing, where we can be net exporter of refined petroleum products and we assemble our cars like the days of Peugeot cars in Kaduna, Volkswagen cars in Lagos and Leyland trucks/buses in Ibadan and ANAMCO buses and trucks in Enugu and Steyr agricultural tractors in Bauchi produced our Agricultural tractors we will just be comedians online.
We need to have an economy where states will not just be assembling but also produce many of the components for these devices I mentioned above, like the days when Vono products in Lagos were producing seats for the vehicle, exide batteries in Ibadan and cono motor batteries Benin and IsoGlass and TSG in Ibadan were producing windshields and Ferrodo in Ibadan can again produced the brake pads and discs while Dunlop will produced the Tyres in Lagos or Michelin Tyres in Port Harcourt all from rubber plantations located in Ogun, Edo, Delta and Rivers State.
Even as we listen to Radio and watch television sets assembled in Ibadan by Sanyo and refrigerators, freezers and Airconditioners produced by Thermocool and Mandilas and proudly put on clothes made and produced from UNTL Textile Mills in Kaduna and Edo and Aswani textiles from cotton grown in Nigeria and our water run through pipes produced here like the days of Kwalipipe in Kano and Duraplast in Lagos, when our toilets were fitted with WC produced in Kano and Abeokuta. When we all flew Nigeria Airways as the biggest airline in Africa The list is endless, if you remember these companies please help me add.
Until our various states not just the federal government is able to guarantee production and manufacturing to enhance job creation, we will only manage and patch the crises now until the next election as we keep postponing the day of Armageddon.
Election without a restructured Nigeria is a recipe for catastrophic economy. Don’t say I didn’t tell you.
