Hi Anthony, Hope you are all well. Nice information and explanation Anthony.. I semi installed the basic Faller road system on my layout in 2010 but gave up on it as the cars moved way too fast for the scale size ..I also found the road plan on my layout was too compact and very arkward so I took it out and sold all the kit on Ebay ..I have looked at the other systems but for me it was way too much hassel installing it as at the time I was also installing all the track sensors for automation.. Thanks for showing 👍🏻

Hey, Jim... I believe newer Faller cars have an adjustment for speed, but that is definitely an issue they had as well. One thing I did not discuss in this video, but will in a follow-up is about looking at space and deciding what works best. I have been ready to chuck this all out and make a static display, but I wanted to try it one last time and get it working, because it did look very cool when I did have it working for a brief period of time before I got stupid. Thanks for watching! Best wishes to you and the fam!

Great Video Anthony , The biggest issue for me with the Magnorail system is the noise of the chain it gets to the point where you just want to switch it off for some peace and quiet , I have even heard them so loud they drain out the sound of sound fitted locomotives . Best Regards Mate David

It really is good when someone does all the hard work and lets us know about a given subject. Even better without trashing one system in favour of another. A fantastic and useful highlight in the world of moving vehicles for your layout. Thanks Anthony for producing this extremely informative and concise video. Regards, Geoff.

There are some inaccuracies regarding Viessmann. The distance control between vehicles works with infrared, not with magnets and reed sensors. And the prices are not really bigger if you compare equivalent vehicles. Some Viessmann vehicles are expensive because they are complex (they have a cement mixer or a crane with lots of tiny parts etc.). But if you compare basic trucks, for example the Faller 161439 with the Viessmann 8030, you will notice that they have the exact same price, where the Faller only has a motor directly connected with the battery, and does not even have lights, while the Viessmann has lights, has a load-regulated motor capable of smooth driving at different speeds, has a decoder, has built-in anti-collision, etc. etc. (and even a possibility to add inductive charging)
@ModelTrainOutsider
21 күн бұрын
@praevasc4299 Comparing similar vehicles, Viessmann are much higher. V25-50% higher. Also, at the time this video was made, Viessmann had not released some of the things you mention. I also mentioned that the Viessmann's came with more, thus the higher price.

Hi there, Deano. I don't think it was too in-depth, I was really glossing over a lot of things and excluding a lot more. Still, it is something to think about. Really I did this so that folks have a working knowledge when I go into the videos showing how I started, how I failed, and what I am trying to do.

Hi Anthony, this is a fascinating subject, its a dream of many Rail modellers to have a working scale vehicle system in conjuction with the Trains running. I looked at the Faller system years ago but due to cost decided not to buy it. Its really cool to see these working on layouts and as you showed they are introducing more advanced ways of controlling the vehicles. Great video, I enjoyed how you explained in detail the pros and cons of each system. Cheers, Paul. 👍👍👍

Hello, Paul One of the things about model railways if we build in the now with dreams of the future, and a car system can be retroactively added, but it is better to think about it and what kind of action you went well ahead of time. With such differing systems and levels of activity, one really needs to brainstorm it heavily.

Oh, I do so hope I can get it working. The last 3-4 years have been a emotional roller coaster... or perhaps, submarine would be better. I had it working, then tried to upgrade it, and could never get it working right again. I grew disenchanted with the road track by Faller, and spent the last two years trying to figure out a way to do something different. Viessman's new system gave me some ideas, so I am creating a bit of a hybrid. We will see if it works! Thank your for watching and commenting.

Hi Anthony, Another in depth look at this for us so thank you for showing all the systems and how they work. Although you did not mention it I assume you would need this sort of system if you wanted to use iCar to automate them in total but if its like my iTrains lots of work needed. I will look out for the next part of this to see how you got on because as you have the kit it seems a shame you cannot enjoy it so good luck. Cheers Robert.

Very useful video,thanks for uploading. My only gripe is the use of the word "Car" in the systems which use electric motors built in each vehicle. I have only ever seen vans, trucks and buses - no cars. Whilst limited in what the vehicles can do at least the Magnorail system allows a variety of vehicles including cars. I saw a Faller system at an exhibition and while it was impressive it soon became apparent that no cars were moving. They were there, parked up on the street but remained static. I totally get that size restricts the vehicle fleet that systems like Faller can use and if you accept that you are only ever going to see vans and larger vehicles moving then it's all good. I guess one way of incorporating cars on a Faller layout would be to use Magnorail creatively to have the occasional moving car make an appearance.

Hello, and thanks for commenting. As I mentioned, all systems have pros and cons. The "price" one pays for more realistic traffic flow requires more digital circuits and motors. The cars are coming. Viessman has some cars, including a VW Beetle. Faller has a police car and family sedan coming.
