That was so funny because I'm kinda the tough guy and my friend were too. And we were crying like babies at the end. And his girlfriend find us really cute. But I have a funny theory for this movie. People back in the day asked did they return together? I say yes... if you pay attention it's snowing three times in this movie. The first time is when Jack going into the glimpse, the second time it's when he is getting out. The third time is when he is with Kate at the end. So I think when it's snowing it's when his ''fate'' changed. So I guess in the end his fate is changing 🙂 Anyway good reaction as always! And sorry for my english, it's my second language :)

Cassie for those of us who don't have kids we just can't relate to your gushing about children. I hope I'm not coming across as cruel, but I just can't relate at all. I once saw a group of kids gathered around something and being active. After they all left I went over to see what they did because they were focused on the ground. On the ground was a turtle upside down with his shell cracked. You could see the fleshy part inside the turtle between the cracked shell. Its a light yellow when you crack open a turtle. You know how I know? because those kids showed me. I felt so sorry for the turtle I didn't know what to do but just turn it on to his feet. He went away as fast as he could. The turtle acted like it had just been raped by those children. Now I ask you, are all children beautiful and sweet? You're kidding yourself if you say yes. I assure you some are very cruel.

I used to watch this movie often and I can honestly say in my opinion that Kate (Tea Leoni) may be the villain of this film. Cause in both worlds Kate became what she wanted but Jack (Nicholas Cage) couldn't fulfill his life as a big time Wall Street man like he is in the real world rather than fulfill it in the dream world. Instead he's a tire salesman and when he tries to bring his real world job into the dream world it causes problems. Also Robert Downey Jr.'s father makes an appearance at the end of the movie when Jack returns to his world and goes to his dream home.

This movie flies under the radar. So many people have not seen it and should. I only question the ending because they have grown into 2 very different people with different priorities. Even with his transformation from seeing "what could have been", she is not that wife. I just don't know if they would work the same. I think they would fall (back) in love, but this version of them, the success driven people, wouldn't have children, which changes the idea of the movie a lot.

One thing I like about this movie is that he's _not_ unhappy with his life, or facing bad choices. He's _happy_ at the start; he loves what he does, he's good at it, and he enjoys his life. When he said "I've got everything I need", it was an offhand sorta statement, but it was also sorta true. He's really facing a choice of _different_, not strictly better. It's kinda an important point for _life_, because you can't have everything you want, because some of the things you want are incompatible with each other. So you can concentrate on the things you have now, or you can concentrate on the _other_ set of things you could have had, and then not have the things you _do_. It's a trite movie cliche that one or the other is totally better and the obvious choice. A lot of the time... they're just _different_. That's why I sorta like the ambiguity of the ending. On even numbered days, you can choose to believe they decided to get together, and their life together worked out well. On odd numbered days, you can choose to believe they decided to continue on with their current lives, and, y'know, they both probably worked out well too.

And I can say now that the love I see in her eyes every morning when she first sees me has been for the last 2 years much more rewarding than anything “freedom” had brought me before.. and so this movie feels like a totally different experience now. I was only 17 when it came out but I had already “decided” that I didn’t want any kids because I wanted freedom more than anything and so I remember loving the movie but the effect on me was nebulous at best… I kept that state of mind for a long time but life found a way to change me enough so that I finally was able to stop obsessing so much about “freedom” and at 37 I became a dad to the most wonderful little girl! And I can say now that the love I see in her eyes every morning when she first sees me has been for the last 2 years much more rewarding than anything “freedom” had brought me before.. and so this movie feels like a totally different experience now. Still as good but with so much more meaning for me now… ❤

Modern life since the 1960s leached a poisonous stream of trickles of lies into american thinking and this movie shows that the lie is faux dream and Family is the real fulfilment if you make the sacrifices of self.

Jack asking Kate to promise to remember him as he was in that moment, Kate saying I promise and Jack saying... "Promise me again". Loved it. Great reaction, I was sure you would like this movie. :)

This movie is very special to me, my mom & I watched a lot of movies together (kind of our thing) & this is the last movie we watched together (during Christmas no less!) before she passed away quite suddenly a few months later. I'm so glad you liked this one & Nicolas Cage is just the best, hope you have a great Christmas!

This movie makes me think of my older brother who passed away around Christmas time. Just him him telling me about how much he had enjoyed it before I saw it.

I’ve seen this movie a thousand times, since I was a little kid. I’ve had a rough time this year, in a lot of ways similar to this movie. I had an important job, that I loved. I knew exactly who I was. this is the first time I cried watching this movie. I know it sounds corny and contrived, but I realized so many parallels in my life tonight. I needed this reaction. Thanks Cassie

Wonderfully corny like Nic Cage's character says but never contrived. It sincerely has good heart and carries the emotions authentically! Oh for you! I don't doubt your sincerity because I know I'll be revisiting this movie and reaction often this coming year, ya know! 🎉

There's a deleted scene where when Jack "wakes up" and drives back to Jersey to what was his house, he sees Arnie outside. He pulls up and they have an interaction. Arnie then, actually recognizes him. We find out that they went to high school together. Jack, then realizes it. Before he drives off he says "I just wanted you to know, I think we could have been good friends." It's not a big scene but I think it added a little something. Also, the woman playing Jack's lover was in another movie that year with Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeiffer call "What Lies Beneath". That's definitely one you need to watch with Carly.

My theory is that the Jack from this reality with the wife and kids is having his glimpse, too. He's living the pent house single life where he's the president of that financial company. He woke up wondering where his wife and kids were. He went to the house, a different family living there. His neighbor friend doesn't know him.

That's a missed opportunity by the Hollywood execs if you ask me. That would've made a great sequel, or maybe they could've even set a precedent and released both versions at the same time.

@@whichonespink7542 like a side by side comparison as they did in that movie with Gwyneth Paltrow, Sliding Doors.

@@whichonespink7542 Oh that would've been more expensive but SOOOO worth it. Such an innovative idea. Two versions of the same movie.
