Stihl chain saws have the same problem! My MS211 has been into the shop twice for this. After the second incident, I pressed the dealer for an answer. He paused, then reached for a needle-nose pliers, and pulled the spark-arrestor screen out. When I got home, it took me two Sols to calm down! I regret not knowing about your site sooner. You have provided the answers for two other problems with my equipment, so “Thanks” to you. Looking forward to all of your videos.....All the best.

Steve thank you for this video. I have a Stihl gas blower model 56. It would start, but when I pulled the trigger, the blower would not accelerate. I checked the spark plug , air filter, and fuel tank filter. I had replaced each item last year. I only use the blower once a week for about 20 minutes. After I finished checking the blower, it would not start. I had looked in the owner manual. It did mention about checking the spark arrestor. However, I did not see one. After watching your video I removed the exhaust port on the muffler and sure enough the spark arrestor was black and clogged with carbon deposits. I cleaned it with a wire brush and sprayed it with a carburetor cleaner. The blower started up immediately!

Great tip thank you.I have a Stihl BG 55 that doesn’t run.My son took it in and they told him by the time they fix it parts and labor (especially if it needs a new carb) you could just buy a new one.Folks that is not the answer I wanted to hear, but I am afraid this may be a common thing after a $40 bench charge plus parts and any initial lab our costs.Your channel helps out tremendously and saves us money.Right now I am gonna pull the carb and find a new OEM Stihl carb and see where that gets me.Respectfully E.P. While having a Grolsch I removed the muffler on my Homelite blower. It was a totally different design. Muffler split into halves with a huge spark arresting screen sandwiched in the middle. But the weird part was a metal tube came from the muffler and went into the blower housing. I put it all back together and continued drinking my Grolsch.

I also did a compression test and this reads 100psi but the engine stihl bogs down. Any suggestions

One other cause to add if your blower won’t rev up: stale gas. If it still runs crappy with the spark arrest or out, remove the gas in the tank and replace with some fresh ethanol free mix. If it still runs crappy see the carb adjustment video.

I agree with all the your points. Plus, use a mix less than 1:25. At least 1:50 with nowadays high quality oil. Use gasoline of best quality too. As little Ethanol and additives as possible. Or get pre-mix stuff like Aspen or Motomix or the like... One thing: don't write in all caps please, it is considered YELLING! ;-)
