I had a doctor suggest that you make your plate of food then eat only half of it . Put it up and wait 20-30 minutes. If you are truly hungry, eat the rest but if not, save it for another meal. He also felt that the rise in obesity was aided by the consumption of carbonated drinks which he said expanded the stomach which, after time, let us eat more before being satiated.
@Metqa

Carbonated water increases ghrelin which is the hunger hormone. It increased it more than sugar beverages and unflavored, unsweetened carbonated water increases it more than flavored sweetened carbonated beverages. Degassed "carbonated" drinks had less of the effect than fresh carbonated drinks. *Also, lack of exercise causes an increase in ghrelin over regular exercise. It is not so much the stretching of the stomach, as someone can stretch their stomach by over consuming plain water. Of course, this was in a study where the rats were allowed to free feed and were not calorie restricted. But it was a significant enough increase in the feeling of hunger to cause them to eat enough extra to show up as subsequent weight gain. I am of course interested in the results of studies and wish there would be another variable group that was given the "food/drink" in question but then kept on an isocaloric diet to see how increased hunger but no increase in food eaten affects the animals. They say there was an increase in liver lipid accumulation but was that because of the additional food consumption or because of a change in how the body worked due to the gaseous beverage consumed? In other words, if the rats were allowed carbonated beverages, but limited their calories, would there be a net physiological harm compared to the current conclusion? I know rats(and dogs and pigs) are the next best animals to compare human digestion , but Humans have motivations that often go beyond hunger. Fasting for health or religious reason goes beyond hunger sensations, people on diets ignore hunger. and Rat Chow, last I checked, is not necessarily low carb. It is REALLY REALLY hard to put a Rat into nutritional ketosis, compared to a human, because the carbohydrate load has to be somewhere as low a 1% compared to humans %5 or higher wiggle room. In a parallel study, the levels of ghrelin hormone were increased in 20 healthy human males upon drinking carbonated beverages compared to controls. But they don't tell us how this directly affected their behavior, like did they feel overwhelming out of control hunger, or something akin to hunger pains which they could ignore if they had good reason to avoid eating. Anyway. I hope you find this interesting and useful. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28228348/

I am taking my time with my diet or Keto. Doing things too fast could impact how your body feels, especially when I am older. As long as I see small results in what I am doing, I am a happy camper. Plus, I do moderate daily exercising along with the diet.

I am 57 years old and and looking to lose about 30 pounds -- 160 to 130. Thank you for your great content and hard work. Deanna

Question to KetoFocus: First thanks for all your videos. Sodium-Salt - I grew up on studies a while back saying Salt was bad for us and now with the keto diets everyone says Sodium is good for us. So, what is KetoFocus's take on using Salt on food and how much we use. I always stayed away from Cellery because it was high in Sodium, now everyone on keto says Cellery is good for us. So a bit confused on using Salt and Sodium type foods. thanks and take care.

I'm a writer and inventor. When I'm focused on things my weight goes up as I eat anything absentmindedly as I work. Yesterday I realized my weight has gone up and 199 is too much. To lose weight I do salads. Carbs are so evil and Dairy Queen is down the street and I live on an island. All the components to gain weight gradually. Today i dropped four pounds and i will spend a few weeks getting back to 174. Once I realized I gained I lost four pounds the next day. I ran out of salad and had junk food delivered everyday while I ran my projects. Wow! The American diet is so messed up. I'm so glad you have so many nice Keto friendly ideas.

What i hate about keto is the high calories. For smaller people our caloric intake is way less. I have to be under a thousand to lose something
@pat4005
3 жыл бұрын
It's not about calories. If you think the only way you can loose weight is to follow a calorie-restricted diet, then follow that. If you are interested in following keto as a completely different way to loose excess fat, then you need to learn about what it is and how it works. Otherwise it makes no sense to just complain that keto is "high calories" (which it is not), and then say you are smaller and need to eat under 1K calories to loose weight without having a clue as to what a a proper keto way of eating actually is. Why bother coming to a keto-based dietary channel, still be completely uneducated about how keto works, and then complain incorrectly about it?
